Swiftcover came up cheapest on the comparison websites for a standard car when when you add a performance exhaust it almost doubled

my quote was based on 38y/o with 9+ years NCB and street parking so probably not too bad a quote considering it covers all mods like for like.Just thought it would be interesting to see what other people are shelling out before i take the plunge tomorrow

675.00 doesn't sound too bad considering your car (if that turns out to be the case) is modded

Try:

http://www.lv.com/insurance/car_insurance/

The online form lists numerous mods, and I find LV very good.

Directline is another one to try, and are mod friendly.

I just put my details into LV, included the mods and it came out at 578.00, so given that I'm 105yrs old with 68yrs NCB, your 675.00 is a good one

I just done mine with LV, came out best on comparison sites, apart from a couple of insurance companies that I wouldn't want to take cover out with due to horrendous stories of appalling claims handling found online.

I am 33, drive way parking, 7 years no claims, clean licence, 530, plus they only charge a low APR if paying monthly, i think 16%, compared to 29% that many others charge. (i say low, when the base rate is 0.5%, 16% is still f**king abysmal)!!

I'm with Admiral Multicar, driveway parking and full NCB, no points, and I'm........old.
350 (mine has remap and exhaust mods) but I think our area is a low crime risk.

Mike.

I thought swiftcover didnt charge for exhaust mods?

Also, I agree, I think that is superb value. Im in a 320d. 25 with 3 years ncb and still get charged just over 700 from swiftcover.

Im told their cheap price does come at a cost when you try to claim, if you ever have to.

OP - that's a great quote with mods - take it quick before they change their mind

Admiral were way cheapest for me, but no way I could get less than 1400 in the end (with 1000 excess) - our fault for living in inner Manchester!

LV would only allow me 2 mods (any two) then it just said "sorry we can't quote you"

Just be careful with mods on comparison sites, what you enter on the comparison site is not always what you end up with on the quote schedule, but you can't check at the time because most quote confirmations just say modified - 'yes', with no detail of the mods you entered via the comparison site.

E.g.

'modified ECU' on the comparison site turned out to be 'modified ECU up to 10% power increase' on the policy. (no good for 335i, you need at least +20% - 25%, which is 2 categories higher)

'modified exhaust' (for DPs) on the comparison site turned out to be 'after market silencer fitted' on the policy. No good either.

'wheel spacers fitted' on the comparision site turned out to be 'after market wheels' AND 'modified brakes' on the policy WFT?

When I called to correct these, I ended up paying 300 more for the ECU and exhaust and 100 less for the spacers which I took off anyway.

The small print says the insurance firms are not responsible for the information provided vie the comparison site and its up to you to check. When I pointed out that you couldn't check until after you'd purchased they said you must phone and not rely on the web info!

Pointless thread.

IMO

They always are.

No two situations are the same.
Ever.

And buying a car BEFORE checking your insurance quotes first is crazy.

+1

Even your own situation on different days will give different quotes!

Waste of time - comparo websites, the quote you get is never what you would eventually end up paying.
There just like budget airlines, they lure you in on a headline figure and whack you on things that should have been included at the outset!

The better insurance companies rarely feature on the comparo's either,I wonder why?
