So I bought my 07 335i as CPO about 3 months ago with 27k miles on it. I assume thats the last time it had an oil change.

I remember playing around with the IDrive when I first got it and noticed it said next oil change was 12k miles from then or not until 1/2013 (two years from that current date). I figured two years was a long time but that I would burn through the 12k miles pretty fast.

I've put about 5k miles on it so far but the service indicator and read-out on the IDrive still says 12k miles left or 1/2013... What gives, at this rate I would put 17k miles on it before an oil change and that's even if it starts actually counting down and not staying at 12k miles left.

I paid extra for the extended maintenance plan and want to make use of it. Could something be wrong with my car? Why won't any of the service countdowns update as I put more miles on the car?

it's not a linear countdown. the oil change interval will fluctuate depending on your driving habits.

went in yesterday evening and asked BMW about it, they looked up my car on their computers and said the car has not had a BMW oil change since 21k miles, so a little over a year and 12k miles ago, and the damn i drive still said i needed to wait another 12k miles or two years. they dealer gave me a free oil change anyways since it had been just over a year
