pics of new G37 released
Well, for those who are shopping the E92 and waiting to see what the new Infiniti G37 coupe looks like, the wait is over.
Although the official launch is still days away, Automobilemag.com seems to have broken Infiniti's strict embargo and released a few photos. here is the link: http://www.automobilemag.com/multime...iti_g37_coupe/ Folks over on the Infiniti forums are NOT happy campers tonight - they find the production version toned down from the concept car, and too similar to the new sedan that came out last fall (previous gen coupe was almost more aggressive than the sedan, and that does not appear to be the case now). Just passing the pics along for those that are interested.

Very tame. Not feeling the front at all either its stretched out almost. The back is practically the same. Nothing really new aesthetically. Personally would not get one because of the looks.

I gotta say, last gen coupe looks way more aggressive than the sedan
now, it's almost the other way around, I saw the new sedan in person, and it looks very aggressive compare to the pics of the new coupe

Wow what a horrible effort by infiniti. I am seriously disappointed! It looks virtually the same as the previous model. More like a mid-life facelift than a redesign
The concept was beautiful.....but this?.....this is crap. I guess I don't have to wait for this car now. |

That car looks blah. I was hoping for more. I guess they spent more on engine R&D than they did for styling. It's not all about HP. No sense looking like flying dog shit going fast. Maybe they beefed up the motor so you couldn't tell what type of car sped by. |

Wow, haven't posted on the forum for awhile, just been enjoying my 335 coupe but those shots are seriously disappointing. I still admire the look of the last gen g35 coupe and have actually liked the new g35 sedan (my mom bought one). But, this new coupe is terrible and just looks like a coupe version of the new sedan, whereas it should have been miles ahead like the old coupe was from the old (absolutely horrible) sedan. IMHO... , I'm sure the 335i will still blow this thing away and look about 10x better doing it.

I don't really like it.... I actually think the previous gen looked a little better and less stretched out. I test drove a G35 coupe about a year ago and didn't like it at all. The engine was pure butter of course, but the rest of the car didn't do a thing for me.

Before seeing the E92, I was planning to wait for the new G35 coupe (or the new Supra, which as of now, still very little info on) as I had saw the concept and it looked awesome. Based on looks, I am glad I didn't wait for it and bit the bullet on the E92. The G37 looks the same as the old coupe from side and back. The front end looks like the sedan. Performance-wise, hopefully its not substantially faster than the 335...that would suck.

inside is identical with new sedan, but they did that with coupe/sedan before, and so does BMW, so that's not a surprise. As an ex G coupe owner, and almost a new G sedan owner, I gotta say I am disappointed. but I am only speaking from a looks perspective. I bet this thing is a blast to drive - although I wouldn't expect Infiniti to quite match BMW's superior handling dynamics.

The car looks very tall from the front (probably a result of the headlamp design and hood lines) The last gen coupe was very nice, I have considered it in the past.
The new one looks like a watered down version of the old one. |

Oh wow...that's terribly disappointing. I thought the concept was quite good and said so in the previous thread. I'm definitely no BMW homer but that's a really disappointing effort by Infiniti. I really like the new sedan and may even get my dad to buy one, but that's a really boring looking coupe.
I really think Infiniti dropped the ball on this one. TMNT said it best, it definitely looks more like a facelift than a redesign. They hardly did anything with it! BMW Execs right now = |

THANK GOD!!!!! I hate to admit this but part of me had been questioning my decision to purchase the 335 coupe after pictures of the Gcoupe Concept Car came out. However, those beautiful lines on the concept car are nowhere near this production version. Thank you, thank you, thank you infiniti for reaffirming my decision to go with the 335 coupe.
Don't get me wrong, I love the look of the BMW, otherwise I wouldn't have ordered it, but the concept car just spoke to me for some reason. Now that the production version has been released, I have this sense of shame that I ever doubted BMW I should have known better. Anyway, I can't express how good it feels to know inside that I made the right decision with my purchase. Sorry everyone for even doubting it for a second!...haha. |

From Edmonds article: "The question remains whether the G37 Sport will match the acceleration of the BMW 335i, which hits 60 mph in only 4.8 seconds and trounces the quarter-mile in 13.3 seconds at almost 106 mph. Our seat-of-the-pants assessment says that the G37 isn't quite up to that task, due mostly to its torque deficit, fewer gears (the Bimmer has a six-speed automatic) and heavier estimated weight (3,682 pounds vs. 3,571 pounds)."
"But anytime the going gets twisty and you're driving in the upper reaches of the power band, the G will leave the 3 Series in its wake with better top-end punch and a more performance-focused chassis." So they think this new G, although not able to keep up with the TT from standstill will out perform it in the area where BMW is king?? WTF. I will wait and see!!

Once again, Infiniti gives the G the same ole 5AT tranny...bleh ; it's not nearly as refined, smooth, and fast-shifting as the 335i's 6AT ZF tranny. In addition, even though this new G37 with its increased displacement has ~ 330BHP, it's TQ is still way below 300 lb.-ft. of TQ...why can't Nissan/Infiniti get the TQ to over 300 lb.-ft. TQ on the NA VQ engine?
The design is so similar to the G35 Sedan (which I like for the most part), and the interior is much improved than previous gen G35, but it's nothing like the Concept. One thing that I was surprised about in the Edmunds review was how impressed they were with the new G37's handling and road feel...better than the BMW 335i...really? I'm glad I didn't wait for the G37 Coupe; not too interested, and I believe a stock 335i will still be faster than the G37.

now I know why the new G37 coupe looks like ass compare to its concept, the concept car's got a nice swooping back, while the production coupe's back end is choppy, it's almost like they took the sedan, and cut off the back doors, then welded the front and the trunk together
