shock & strut replacement by BMW Maintenance

has anyone received this service before?

41k miles right now and its a CPO with extended maintenance package. my rear seems to sag a bit and was wondering if the shocks and struts can be replaced through BMW maintenance program.

also i replaced my pads due to squeaking noise... but how can i get them to change out the rotors? i have asked and they say its ok but i highly doubt this since the noise is back.

can someone shine in on this

thanks.

doubt it since those are wear and tear items, the only things covered under the CPO plan is engine/drivetrain, maintenance plan will cover basic stuff like oil changes and brake pads not suspension

I never understood covering brake pads but not other wear and tear items.

The shocks will not be replaced under any warranty. That's an out of pocket expense unless you can prove that it is defective from the factory.

The OP stated he had purchased the extended maintenance plan. Rotors will be replaced only when they wear beyond acceptable limits - otherwise, BMW will not reimburse the dealer. And "hassling" your dealer seems like a great way to quickly get on their s--t list, which you really don't want to do while under warranty & covered maintenance.

But it does no harm to request a brake inspection due to the noise. At the same time, you can voice your concerns about the rear suspension, but 41k is pretty early for shock/strut replacement, so I doubt you will get new ones.

I have had my rotors replaced under warranty, but they have to meet a certain threshold before they will even think about it. I THINK mine were at .23 but don't know for sure without looking at my records.

BMW is notorious on this issue -- they will try to get out of changing rotors under any maintenance contract, if they "measure" good...BUT, if you walk in out of warranty, they will insist you need to replace pads and rotors together -- which, btw, is the accepted standard in every BMW shop, except for dealer warranty service!
