Gloss Black grill w/ Chrome Surround????

Quick question:

Is there any way to just replace the chrome grill slats with black slats, while maintaining the stock chrome surrounds???

I really like this look, and I prefer it to doing the entire grill in black, because ,my car is silver, and the contrast is just too stark for me.

I've noticed the smaller displacement European 3-series have this look as standard, while moving up to a larger displacement car gets you our all chrome look...

If not, does anyone have a link to paint just the vertical slats???

I'm definitely not a "modder", and I need any help that I can get. Thanks in advance everyone.

I think the 328s came with grills that are similar to what you're describing, except the slats are a matte black.

Hope that helps!

Masked off everything and then just sprayed it with black paint.

Michael,
that's perfect...

especially on a white/silver car. I think the all black is just too much. keeping the surround chrome w/ the black slats looks awesome.

thanks for posting.

You can buy the Matte or Gloss Black grilles and swap out the center sections. Or go the paint it yourself route whichever is easier for you.

You don't have to do any masking. If you have an E92, the center piece comes off the surrounding with clips.
