How does my E90 323i compare with A4 2.0T Quattro?
Just wanted some advice.
Have been thinking about changing cars again and was wondering how my E90 323i (w/ BMS powerbox set at "2" most of the time) compare with the Audi A4 2.0T Quattro. Can I assume that handling should be around the same when compared with quattro? I should think that A4 FWD will not be as good when it comes to handling, but overall am I right in assuming that the ride quality will be better in the A4? All the potholes in HK is making my BMW a less desirable experience. |

You wouldn't know what handling is on any Audis, but Audi should be faster than a BMW on straights. Light/no steering feel is still the main problem of Audi no matter it is a FWD or AWD or even a S/RS.

I don't think its an unfair comparison 'cos I'm looking at it purely from a cost perspective. Its in the same price range and having driven my 323i for a couple of years, I've been thinking about swapping.
Has anyone driven the A4 2.0T Avant? I've been thinking of getting a wagon and just want to see if there are any comments out there. |

I really hate the A4's lack of steering feel. It feels like I'm playing Wii.

From my experience, Audi, like the other VWs, has better low-end torque then BMWs, so the initial acceleration would be faster then a BMW, but given a long enough straight, a BMW will overtake the Audi, once the high-end revs of the bimmer kicks in, then the BMW will really go.
But if you are talking about overall roadholding and handling, a BMW still beats an Audi, although the distance between them in this performance aspect is getting closer because of Audi's quattro. Still, for now, if driving enjoyment is the priority, I would choose a BMW 3 series. An A4 would be my second choice, it's a great car, handling-wise, but still not quite as good as a 3 series. |

as i know, the current 2.0 TFSI engine is good for fuel efficient and performance.....don't pick those 3.2V6 as it is a fuel monaster......
so the best combination is 2.0T + quattro

I test drove the 2.0 quattro with DSG and the turbo lag and lack of steering feel forced me to get a BMW again (325i).
I wanted to like the Audi but just couldn't. It sure is a pretty car though ![]()
