i really want to laugh at this, but i can't because i wouldn't expect someone who lives in a "full service" state to pump their own fuel...

then again........... its not rocket science.

..........or is it?

When I'm heading to/through NJ I always fill up before I get there. I've had bad experiences with them in the past (most listed already). The only time I was able to pump my own in NJ was when I was driving my boss's GT40. I pulled up...got out...just looked at the guy...he nodded and I pumped my own gas.

I always park my ride quite a distance away. 2 months after purchasing my car, it got dented pretty bad (it was so bad I think it may have been intentional)...I told myself...oh well thatís the only dent and probably wonít happen again for a while. Then a week later I got a second dent. Thatís when I said F this...I'm done with dents and I've been parking in east chuck ever since.

When I was high school I had a part time job at a gas station.
It had full and self serve, I was required to wash the windshield and offer to check the oil, The thing was my boss was pretty cheap and the windshield cleaning fluid always froze and just made a mess of the windshield.
So I decided to add some cleaners we had lying around the shop Mr. Clean, Tobjob, etc. It worked great

After a couple weeks my boss asked me if I had done anything to the fluid. I was quite impressed with myself and told him what I had done, he then informed me that SEVERAL customers had complained that the paint under their windshields was peeling off. He then informed me that this never happened and We agreed never to talk about this again.

Living in Staten Island, a hop skip and a jump away from dirty jersey i go there quite often for other things like shopping and such. Also the MUCH cheaper gas. I don't mind the full serve. I usually stand outside with them and watch them. It's just my thing because I would rather pump my own. If it finishes and the attendant isn't there, i'll finish it myself. they don't mind. its doing their job for them. Some stations if its too busy i'll start filling myself too but some require an attendant swipe card.

When I was barely out of HS I had a summer job cleaning up around the construction of new homes. My boss gave me a 1/2 ton Chevy pickup to drive, when in reality, he should have given me a 1 ton pickup. The things I ran over with that thing seemed to have one thing in common, they all got placed in the back of the storage shed. One day in late August Mr. M. found all those things like commercial wheelbarrows, Deere mowers, etc. He said he wanted to tell me one thing before he did what he was gonna do, told me that honesty is the best policy, if I ran over a $400 wheelbarrow, I should have just told him, he would have taken it out of my pay (2 weeks prolly). Then he said you're fired, you d*** I** L***** college kids.

Then, the pump stops after .7 gal goes in, and it takes the attendant another 3-5 min to come back, seeing as he handles 3 islands all by himself. I just broke the law and pumped it myself, because it takes a BMW sometimes 4-5 times of stopping and restarting to get the tank filled.
That's a BS law. I'll fill my own tank thank you.

Not really hard, but expensive as fuck. I believe it costs $500-$600 for a license to get a pistol. Absolutely ridiculous. It does take a while sometimes too, which is another annoying thing.

@OP - It's ridiculous. Last time I filled up, the attendant closed the cap with his ass. Seriously... of all things. He used his ass. He could have scratched the car because of the buttons on his jeans, but he didn't. It's retarded that we can't pump our own gas. I actually didn't know about that law until I tried to do it at a gas station that was taking forever to attend me. As soon as I got out of the car, the attendant went crazy.

I believe in New Jersey it's because gas is so cheap because of less tax they have to do it to make the gas more expensive by charging more for full serve and making it mandatory....at least that's what i heard.

i've never had a problem w/ them filling it. i stand outside w/ them. usually immigrants and cant' speak much english.

they afraid of these guys cruising by?

Anyone ever go to the 76 station at little santa monica blvd and crescent? The full service price for premium is always over $6. It is nuts that they get business from idiots in beverly hills.

Just get out & pump it yourself. I lived most of my life in NJ. Moved to PA & love pumping myself. When I go over to NJ I pump it myself anyway.

Damn, I'm so glad I can just pump my own gas. I would be paranoid every time I had to have someone else fill it up.
