My 2007 Service and Warranty Information Booklet (page 6) - included with my OM - states:
"AutomaticTransmission Maintenance work • Replace ATF at intervals of 100,000 miles" Here is a copy of BMW Operating Fluids Group 24 Automatic Transmission Technical Service: Quote:

I was forced to change my fluid because of a leaky tranny sleeve at 52k miles. I did the work my self. I went to the the following website: thectsc.com bought there tranny oil change kit (includes 6 quarts, new plug, and pan/filter),a new sleeve, plus an extra 2 quarts of tranny fluid for about $350. Once I refilled the tranny with fluid the 6 quarts I took the car to a shop to finish the topoff because of the whole temperature thing with the fluid. Now the car runs great and it saved me about $600 if I would have taken it to the stealership.
