I've had absolutely no issues with mine in 34k miles apart from a bit of a creak form the "A" pillar. It has never missed a beat.

Maybe because you don't have the n43 engine because yours is a 2008 model :-s

I had all the issues reported on my 2009 E92, I wouldn't buy one again no matter how good the deal was. I changed mine after 9 months to a new E92 320d M Sport, after many trips back to the dealer they all but admitted that they would never be able to sort the issues and they did give me a good deal which enable me to change to the 320d.

It doesn't look very hopeful then. Look's like i will have to cough up some more money and get a 320d instead.

Send a message via MSN to MEGA
You need to realise that hundreds of thousands of these cars have been sold and there is one topic on issues.

For every owner with a problem there are probably 30,000 happy motorists or more.

Yea but from what i can see a 320i is more likely to give me more problem's compared to any other model.

That may be true, but you don't want to end up as an owner who has this issue as BMW don't seem to what to admit that there is an issue with this model and you will just end up with numerous trips to the dealer without any resolution.

Seems better to buy another model rather than risk the potential heartache.

My engine is an n43. It just wasn't registered until 2008. The only complaint that I would have is that it is underpowered compared to the diesels. Apart from that it is quiet, fairly economical and at least I dont have to worry about my Turbo breaking.

I'm confused. I thought your brother was the one buying the car?

Were you not asking advice on what to buy a while ago with the options being a VXR, e92 and some others which I can't remember. I take it you bought an e92 (judging by your sig) and are now looking for a e93 now it's sunny outside?

I also came across a post on an Audi (sorry for the swear word guys) forum by someone called Candy who was asking if he should buy a VXR or S3. Weird coincidence eh?

In terms of the e93, my father in law has one of the early ones and it has the usual 320i problem as per the massive thread on here. He has no other issues with the car but that engine would put me right off. I know several people that have had 320i and EVERY single one has had the same problems.

As everyone says you always hear the negatives but never the positives. I have a 320i, all be it for only a few months but have had no problems with the engine at all (ok my fingers are crossed). With the number of 320i's on the road every one can't have problems, trust me I have had a few shocking cars in the past!

If every single 320i had the same problems the stealers woudn't have any appointments left for the rest of you guys.... :-)

As long as you get a proper look at it and make sure that the obvious things are correct I would give it a go, just make sure you get a decent enough warranty with the car and then if anything goes wrong the garage can pick up the bill.

What's your problem ? Was you born with all the knowledge you have on car's? I'm looking to spend most of my hard earned cash on one item and i want to get the right car. I don't know which car's offer what so i just want some info on them. As I'm not great with car's and what they offer i thought forum's would be the best place to ask.!!

If you're not great on cars then why are you giving your brother buying advice?

I have no problem with you Candy although I can see how it may come across that way. Nothing wrong with looking for advice on cars and nothing wrong with looking for it here or anywhere else. People are more than happy to help and that includes me with my somewhat limited knowledge about cars.

I do however have a problem with anyone not telling the truth. Why not just say that YOU are the one thinking about buying an e93 rather than some elaborate and pointless lie about it being for your brother. The worst part is that your not even good at lying because you forgot what you'd written although it was on the same page . Fair enough it was a little white lie that doesn't hurt anyone but you'll probably find that if you keep going with the billy bullshit route eventually less people will be willing to spend the time giving you advice.

Don't be ashamed of what you currently drive and what you want to buy.
