Cold start timing chain rattle, because of the horrnedous Peugeot engine. Brake disc corrosion. High oil usage due to being coked up, window 1 touch not working. Clutch wear. The list is endless on one of them things

We have one in the house. My fiance loves hers and drives it daily. We have had it about a year and had a small issue with misfire but it was fixed under warrenty. Apart from that its ran fine.

The turbo one is same power and speed as the supercharger but a lot better on fuel.
Obviously feel much more nimble than the 3 series and my 335d although is faster gets called a big barge when she drives it lol

I think it has better initial pick up than the 335d but thinking about getting her a remap for a bit more oomph

What sort of mileage hes yours covered Scooby?

Bought one 3 years ago new and its fkin superb - a wonderful driver car from an excitment, power, handling perspective - quality issues on our have amounted to Cam Chain and Tensioner being replaced under warranty, two inner window guides and a sticking grab handle. I drive ours for two weeks of every month to even out the mileage a little and its now done 20k. Buy one, replace the runflats with real tyres and go enjoy - this is the single most impressive car I have ever driven on a tight b road with no white lines and there are plenty were we live. Its and event to drive it, flexibly torquey, storming top end (relatively) coformtable, well equipped, good quality and gives about 42 mpg if you drive like a nun.It really depends on what floats your boat - every drive is an event and its ubiquotous 4 pot sounds really raw and rasping - ticks a lot of boxes. I would buy another and thats my opinion of the 3 series we have - rewarding cars to drive that delvier when driven hard and satisfy with subtle feedback and nice sounds when not.

I think the "peugeot engine" is a BMW - peugeot venture. BMW had a hand in designing this one and Peugeot build'em and stick them
into their 207's, unlike the old Chrysler lump BMW didn't have any input I believe

Well as i worked on them, i KNOW they are a Peugeot engine and the only BMW bit is the Valvetronic cylinder head which has a strange layout because of the Peugeot basis. All the nuts and bolts are spurious sizes compared to all other BMW engines which follow certain sizes of fasteners. Don't be fooled, its 99% Peugeot!

Engine is built in BMW's Hams Hill engine plant just outside Birmingham - that plant builds most of the BMW 4 four cylinders I believe - I used to work at a company who supplied the Mini plant at Oxford and have spent time with the buyers for various commodoties for the Mini.

Even worse BMW/Mini dealers will have to put up their Workshop rates as they have to buy a couple of new spanners, they will call it retooling however :-)

Imagine the panick, when the have to try a find a spanner hook, between the 11 and 13mm

Viz top tip . Just put a 1mm feeler guage into the 13mm spanner -or alternatively file out the 12mm and save the iron filings and glue them back in when you need a 12mm.
