[RESULT UPDATE] Just got my 320d 09 tuned by Peter/superchip

First of all, the guy drove 10hours from Brisbane to me (Sydney). Appreciated!
The whole installation process took around 3hours. The amount of skill and knowledge he got is phenomenal. I watched his handy work the whole process and was facinated by it. It is seriously hard work.

When he finish, i put the key in, fingers cross and start the engine! ROAR
Rev to 3000rpm YESSSSS. Straightaway i felt the difference.(Much less effort)

After i took him out for buger bite then its down to business.
The moment i step on the accelerator it response eagerly, WAY less turbo lag, felt very very sharp on the throttle.

From my memory the turbo kicked in much earlier than it was before. There were two points where i felt like i am gonna wet my pant. I think its around 2nd gear where it went to the red line 4800rpm and the 4th gear.

I remember things very clearly as only few days ago i did 3x standstill 0-100 but the tune felt WAY scarier than it was before. I didn't get time to test the 0-100 but i felt it is at least 1second/more faster.
I will do in the next couple of day and see if it really increased by 44bhp

Honestly, i felt $1,000 is really under charge for the service he provides.
Its not as easy as people think and i am really really happy with the tune.

Ps. my leg is still shaking from last night

I have the stock Bridgestone Turanza ER300 16inch.
Does bigger tyre make you go faster?

OK.... here is the result.

My leg still abit numb, went from a is200 Lexus 0-100 11second to 320d 7.8sec and NOW the superchip crazy power.

I did three test run of stock and chiped. They were 3 different locations.
Stock result was 7.75/7.8/7.57 sec 0-100 and after superchiped it went for super bloody amazing 6.0/6/03/6.40 sec. The amazing thing it went from 0.68G to 0.91G!!
I couldn't comment too much on kw increase as the dynolicous software is bugged on this area. Before tune register at 149kw supposely 130kw and superchip registered at (1)226kw (2)424kw wtf? (3)207kw
The 3rd location register at 6.4sec but i realized after that i didn't 100% fully floor it.
Keep in mind, 2 locations has slight down hill. I couldn't find a perfect flat service so those 3 were the closest i got.

$1G?
HOLY fxxkin amazing cheap!. Before chipped, no wheel spin for those 3runs at start but after chipped the power is so brutal that it wheel spin every single run!. Just like i said yesterday, you can feel straight away when you step on it in ds mode. Its so much faster!

Damn, gotta work at 8am-better sleep now.

Hope you guys enjoy it!

That sounds like an amazing result - glad you like it so much!

You say power delivery is "brutal" - can you elaborate on that please?

Is it 'sharp, instant and smooth'..... or is it 'brutal, notchy and punchy'?

I'm trying to guage the impact on the Steptronic... Out of curiousity when Peter was there for 3 hrs did you talk to him about possible concerns you had read on various forums about the torque issues on the tranny? If yes, what was his reply?

I wish our friends in Russia or China could hurry up and crack the encryption on these ECUs... the second the upgrade can be delivered via normal incar Bluefin Device (thus fully reversable and able to reinstall at will)... I'm in!!! Not to mention the $695 sweet price for a Bluefin

Certainly sounds like the Superchips tune delivers on its promises.... now will be just appreciative of updates over time... curious about tranny and turbo wear and tear...

Cheers..

Judging from the stock 320d supposely should get 8sec 0-100 but i got 7.8sec, so if i add 0.2-0.5 sec on top of my chiped 320d i am pretty confident it should get 6.5 sec on a dyno test/level race track.

I am going to carefully monitor my fuel next refill. Currently doing 7.5L in city.
Was told that he did a VW tdi, the guy drove on highway daily and got down to crazy 3.9l/100k! yet still not happy. They advertise 10% increase fuel efficent for diesel and his expanation was that when you over-taking with stock you have to down shift to get your rev up but after chipped the power kicked in must earlier thus u can stay at current gear to overtake. Less gear change=less fuel.

Hi QLD,

I hope i am not confusing you too much with my words. I am very very new to fast cars and sometimes i don't know what word to use but let me try my best to explain it.

When i mean "brutal" i am only refer to the wheel spin at the start from a standstill floor it drag race. Because i have never experience this before in my life so its kinda scary feeling of the power kicking in so early.
For all the tests, i didn't do the kick start method. All i did was stop the car in the middle of the road and slam on the accelerator/floor it.

As for sharp, instant and smooth i was refer to DS mode. Huge difference from D to DS. The acceleration response on DS felt so smooth, zero turbo lag. When i was overtaking yestday, it felt like the turbo kicked in instantly when i was only half way on the paddle.

Unfortunately, i forgot to ask him about the Steptronic max 450nm power limit. Personally i ain't too worry about that because i rarely drive that fast. Went through 570km on current tank and average 34k/h. City driving is so bloody annoying. The only concern he said was there might be black smoke coming out when you floor it and for the first 10,000k it will adapt to the way you drive. But yes, suddenly so much power on the car will push the limit abit though lot of ppl from uk forum has done it over 5years and still in good shape.

Bluefin was my first priority, unfornately any post 2008 model have crazy encryption on the ECU that have different code which will take a super computer 4months to crack it. You do realize now is half way of 2011 and i hope one day they will crack it but according to Peter, the cars protection system will get better and harder to crack. He told me that bluefin only works for 30% of the car.

What i think will happen is in 2years time they might crack a bluefin that will work for models up to 2010 but post 2011 have a more advance protection which will take another 4years to crack. Battle of cat and mouse game.

No but I found those stock tyres rather inadequate for the torque of our 320d when stock - given the potential they are borderline dangerous. Strongly suggest an upgrade to wider and higher quality rubber

Aside, thanks for the report - those acceleration figures must suggest a very significant improvement - nice one!

My friend told me to change tyre too, he said run flat is very uncomfortable for long distance. What do you mean by borderline dangerous? Though i been experiencing few small wheel spin when i slam it mid-hard.
Do you think that was caused by tyre?

Few of my friend sort of say the dynolicious iphone software isn't too accurate and all that such so i am thinking to take it to dyno test next Sat at Auburn. but gotta work on the day.
Hopefully i get a early mark and get there before 4pm.

And thanks for reading! HAPPY CHIPPING

Hey SBC

I will try my best to come on the day. My only option is come 9am because there is no way i can leave work early.
Can't wait to do dyno test to find out the real horsepower. It tells you 0-100 time right?

Cheers! Diesel CHIPPOOOWWWAAAA

Do you need to re-flash the programming after bringing it to the dealers? Or will the dealers discover that you have a superchip on?

He will need to go back to the stock tune before service or warranty for the powertrain will very likely be voided.

6s shit that is brutal for a 320d! Though I doubt it's actually that fast, it still shows a substantial improvement over the stock time that you got.

SBC, are you full of regret?
