RS4 petition

The competition between Audi with their RS line does nothing but further push BMW to make our M3 that much better, and us the auto enthusiasts are the winners who reap the rewards. The performance model from Audi and BMW obviously each represents a unique driving philosophy with different characteristics. As a current and prior multiple M3 owner and prior RS4 owner I think we should do everything we can to ask Audi to continue RS4 development.

Please take a look and consider signing the RS4 Audi petition at:

My brother has an RS4 and and E90 M3. He loves the M3 better, but nonetheless has nothing but respect for Audi and the RS line. I will sign this petition.

they're already developing it based on the RS5 configuration...there's spy photos out there. No doubt in my mind they would bring it over in US once finished.

Yeah, I know there have been some mule shots, but Audi seems to be vacillating. Thats why I was hoping to show them that the car enthusiasts did have an interest in it, particularly in the US. Audi has made several statements recently about it being unlikely they will produce another RS4, and if they did even less so that they would bring it to the US. Similar to their prior behavior with the RS4.

just for that reason. Everyone has different likes and dislikes, and the better that Audi makes the RS4 the better that BMW will likely make future M3s.

hmm interesting, please expand on this.

I was looking to buy a 2008 RS4, but couldn't find the one I wanted for the right price. I wouldn't say I "settled" on a E90 M3, b/c from what I observed is overall a better car, but do expand on your RS4 experience.

Based on my experience with an audi specialty shop, RS4s suffer dramatic power losses after relatively few miles because of carbon build up. I did see one dyno where a car with the issue put down 265 awhp when it is rated at 450 at the crank.

I would only entertain the RS4 idea if it would have the same sort of 4yr 50k plan as BMW has for it's entire line.

few problems i have with audi in general ( ive owned a few mk1 audi TT b7 a4 TI and my RS4 ) ok my audi TT threw a rod ... what ever it happens its a car i loved that car...next b7 A4 good car nice DD and built it to be a S4 killer...but i wanted the big boy car, Rs4 my dream...was a nightmare drank gas faster then my M handled worst, even in the snow ( true story, thats with snow tires ) oversteer anyone ? everything including maintenance was a hassle AND THEN the FSI motor with the carbon build up..ill stop here you get the point its is slower then my M cost more money to maintain it isn't as fun or driver oriented as my M, and i am audi Fan boy...only thing it had going for it was it was unique

Yeah, as impressive as that engine is on paper and in the showroom, it's a borderline "fail" out in the real world because of the DI/Carbon buildup issues. What an uneasy, love-hate ownership experience that must be. (Almost like being an N54/55 owner!)

being a die hard vw/audi guy for a while it is a love/hate relationship honestly and they was alot of love but that carbon build up killed my love affair and you really cant beat the ///M package it is the best car ive ever owned

I think it makes only 420 from a 4.2.

AGREE!!
WAY to much money for what you get!
Audi's RS line cant compete....hense the reason why you wont see the RS4.

That's exactly right. The B7 RS4 was made as a direct challenge to the outgoing E46 M3. The E92/E90 series M3 came around to challenge the new RS4. Competition breeds better vehicles.

I think people who have owned both cars are obviously going to settle on the vehicle that they like better. So stating which one you like better really doesn't mean anything. Frankly, if you like the M3, you need cars like the RS4 around to breed evolution into your M3. The bottom line is both are fantastic cars in the same general category with different attitudes at the end of the day.

And yes, I owned a 2008 RS4. The engine was glooooorious.

Only? 100 hp per liter is still pretty good, especially in a high revving V8. Also, the piston speeds near redline rival those of some race cars.

Not to mention that variations of this particular engine are sourced by other tuner/manufacturers for their vehicles as well.

So far the rumor is that it will only appear as an Avant (estate form), if true then the chances of it coming to the US is very slim indeed.

The only thing that Audi failed to do with the RS5 was make it as light as the M3, to expect something that weighs 150KG (330lbs) more to outperform a similar specced car was mental, and yet half the time it actually does outperform the M3.

Just imagine what the RS5 could have been like had it weighed the same as the M3.

Agree.

But people (by that I mean both Audi employees and fans/enthusiasts alike) here in the states have successfully lobbied VAG into bringing over the TT RS and the RS5. So, while I do think the chances of seeing the RS4 here may be low, I don't think they are zero.

By the way, for anyone who wants to see an F31 M3 make it here - pray for the RS4 Avant. There's nothing like having a competitor already playing in a particular market to help justify a business case.

Agreed but the very fact that demand is being satisfied in the form of the RS5 will probably mean there is less of a chance this one will come to the US. As for the F31 M3, RS Audis are traditionally Avants, it's the most desirable of the breed which isn't the case with an M car. Each brand have a niche that appeals to each of there customers, it's always best to play to your strengths than offer something that very few desire.

You might not have seen it footie, but as far as the F31 M3 goes, SCOTT recently claimed that BMW does indeed have this car in the works. So it looks like they intend to go up against the RS4 in the homeland. And thus, they could very well take the battle to this side of the pond too, if Audi were to make the first move.
