06 Steptronic doesn't upshift. Help
I just bought a 2006 330i with Auto and tried to use the Steptronic's Manual mode, but for some reasons, the car refuses to shift to any upward gear. It would downshift but won't up-shift in Manual mode. Has anyone experienced this before?
Thanks |

yeah, do you see any of the gears changing on the dash when you shift up or down? Even if it can't shift it will display the gear (M1-M6) for a second and display back to the current gear

just curious...are you using the paddles or the shifter? i know it's a dumb question but gotta ask sometimes...cuz if you're using the paddles and and just toggling the top part i think that's only down shift, to upshift you have to pull or reach behind the stearing column(bottom half of the paddle)

Everything works great when I try to downshift. The problem is only during up-shifting. Tapping the shifter forward will downshift as it should, but tapping it backward does nothing! It just stays in the same gear.

When I was 330 shopping I test drove one where manual shifts did nothing plus it would not even go into DS mode. I assumed it was a bad switch. Console switches can go bad when things are spilled into them.

I thought i read about this on here the other day. The wires by the shifter were broken.

For most BMW problems start off by scanning your car with the BT Tool or Peake Research Tool. They contain the actual BMW codes as opposed to a generic OBII scanner. Pays for itself on the 1st scan. http://www.bavariantechnic.com/ OR
