2006 after-market head unit installation info

I've installed an Alpine head-unit in my 2006 325i with Professional audio. I've read a lot of topic on how to do my install and keep everything working (except steering wheel control because my HU don't support it).

I've saw every where that I had to relocate the stock unit to be able to reset mpg and miles left in the instrument cluster. I had also need the stock HU to keep the "chime".

I don't know if it's the same for all 2006, but the chime is only a beep and not the three-tone chime. So, you keep the chime without the stock HU.

Also, you can still reset mpg and miles left without the stock HU. You only need to push and old the stalk BC button when on the mpg or miles left to reset them.

Hope this can help someone...
