OK, someone has to ask the silly questions, so here goes.

If I do decide to replace the RFTs, on my car the back 2 tyres wear quicker than the front 2 of course, unless they have been rotated. So if I want to replace the back 2 RFTs, do you have to replace all 4, or will 2 RFTs be compatible with 2 normal tyres? I would hate to throw away the 2 good front ones

Would also have to investigate a spare tyre too.

A mix of 2 and 2 is no problem. As for the spare, who needs it !!! All you need is a can of sealer and a compressor to pump it up. A system like the M-Mobility that comes with the M3.

Ive foudn that the cost of RFT and standard 18" tyres arent that much difference in price. only thing that annoys me though is the fact that if I geta puncture in a RFT, im 'suuposed' to throw it out and replace the tyre unlike the standard I go to Beurepairs and for $20 i get it fixed/ patched. Another stupid annoying feature of the new BMW, i reckon RFT should have been made an "Option" to new buyers and not forced upon as the standard.

It will be interesting to see where RFT will be in 5 years time. Will they be standard fitment in over 50% of all new cars ???. Hmmm ... never know

I am happy with the ride and handling now the tyres are a few weeks old. I bought a can of tyre fix. As I drive around Sydney most of the time if I get a punture will leave the car at home or work and take the wheel off and take it to be repaired. This is what i used to do when I had a 206 gti 180. It came with no spare, just a can of stuff. I would only use the can as a last option as I do not know will happen to the rim and tyre when the stuff goes hard and they try to fix the hole.
Has anybody used the can fix option?

I have to say, initial tyre costs aside, if you have to buy a new tyre for $450 rather than paying $20 for a puncture repair, RFTs are lousy value for money.
