Front Brake Thrust Bushings Leaking

I took my 2006 325i with Sport Package to BMW for a Oil Change and the Service Advisor stated that the "Front Brake Thrust Bushings were Leaking". He said it would cost $660 for parts and labor. I went to a Local BMW/Mercedes Benz Shop and they stated $350 and another $120 for alignment. Are the bushings hard to replace? Any suggestions?

They are pretty easy to replace. I'm not sure if someone posted a DIY, but it takes about 90min or less if you've done it before. Maybe 2hrs if you're being careful. You have some options. It's easier to replace the whole thrust arm with the bushing already pressed in. You can use the stock arms or upgrade to the M3 ones. They are stiffer and last longer than the stock ones. However it does make make small bumps and expansion gaps more noticeable especially if you still use run flat tires.

I have a set of stock front control arms and tension struts (not sure which one is the "thrust" arm, there are many names for these things) but they have 160,000 miles on them. They haven't popped yet but they're pretty well used. The good part about it is, since they're already removed from the car, it's not expensive to get a new bushing pressed in it. PM me if you want my old arms.

You can either get HD replacement bushings, HD replacement arms with the bushings already in them or upgrade to the M3 tension arm and bushings.

That job alone should be about 1 to 1.5 hours.

By HD, do you mean Meyle HD? It's 1-1.5 hrs for the replacement, but doesn't a wheel alignment need to be done?

There may be others out there.

No, alignment is not required, but you should check regadless.
