Garage List
they will sell hundreds of thousands though just due to the marketing machine that is tesco. ok we are all car geeks, we know camskill, mytyres, black circles etc etc, but the average tesco mong with their citreon picasso is gonna jizz themselves at the thought of getting 1000 clubcard points (or whatever) for the tyres of their Picasso.

Very shred move by black circles if you ask me..

Im with Mega on this one. I bought 19" csl reps and as you can imagine the rubber ain't cheap. Caskills were way cheaper than anyone else including blackcircles and etyres. I spent a lot of time on the net looking for the best deals and Caskills beat everyone i looked at for price. Only issue i had was finding someone to fit them in Glasgow. Wasn't a problem really as any tyre and exhaust dealer will fit Tyres for approx 10 a corner. I ended up getting them done for 7.50 Fitted and balanced.

I've not yet ever found anyone cheaper than them, and they tend to turn up the very next day - for aboutt 6 delivered.

What more can I say

Ordered about 10 tyres from them now and will continue to do so.

I've used camskill twice for previous cars and they were spot on. Just a shame they don't fit them.

I use event tyres, get them to price match camskill WITH next day (quality) mobile fitting included..

They'll do it for a set of 4.

Heard nothing but good reports from Event also. However, they don't fit in my area (Teesside).

3billion of profit last year and being 4th largest retailer in the world suggests your opinion is not shared by many.

4% profit. Actually pretty crap as profit margins go. Hideous staff, and hateful treatment of suppliers (90 days plus many more slowly moving payments through the system). Allegedly buying up land where they already have stores to stifle any competition. etc etc etc.

Just google them. You'll get the picture. Lots of sheep shopping there doesn't make them good. Lots of small businesses going out of business, and in a few years no competition so prices can come back up.

Time to wake up and smell the Tesco own brand coffee. They wont ever get another penny out of me.

Sorry but that is a poor argument.

Staff, well depends on where, but no better or worse than others imo
Profit margins, bloody healthy coming out of a recession.

Suppliers: I wonder if they get a better deal in any other business which can deal with the same quantity. My guess, no, or else no one would be doing business with them. They sign up to T&C's

Allegedly buying land... media speculation, unfounded, how would that be a sustainable business model?...

Small businesses, going out of business, the nature of the free market. If you cant compete on price, differentiate your offer. Many cases of a tesco stores increasing the footfall in highstreets, helping local business, and creating local jobs. These go unreported, as they do not fit the media projection of the evil T

Oh and ever heard of the OFT?

I was talking about the head office staff. Ever worked with Tesco?

TESCO holds 81% of the land bank of undeveloped sites built up by the big supermarket groups.

Has any of the supermarkets not been fined for any of the above?

Obviously Tesco has done something really bad to you to keep links to all those threads when they are years old.

Tesco holds 81% because they are the only one of the big 5 who are using their capital wisely and investing in wind farms, and buying land when prices are low.
They also create more new sales floor space than 3 of the big 5 put together in a year.

As for articles, i appreciate what you are getting at, but, human error is to blame, and when you have a business as large as Tesco you cannot drive this out completely.
Although I think tellingly there are no particularly recent examples.

Goes back to the same old story, a noisy few who are dissatisfied receive far more media coverage than the millions of (sometimes reluctant) but happy customers that go through stores each year.

not to even close to the same extent (even taking into account the saturation of stores - 2,500+ now I think).
