Starting Fresh need input for more power

Hey guys I'm picking up an 08 e92 335xi tomorrow and plan on throwing some performance mods at it asap. I don't really have a power goal just best bang for the buck with the ability to add more later. My main questions revolve around tuning... coming from the Subaru world and owning a shop where I personally dyno tuned them using Cobb/Open ECU etc I'd like to have the same type of customized interface. I have noticed in other threads Cobb doesn't seem to be the top choice, others go with JB4 or something else...so I need some clarification on what to use and why.

I plan on purchasing the following

Intakes
Catless Downpipes
Tuning Interface

Thanks!
Chris

Search around you'll find all the info in other threads, if you wait a bit longer you'll be able to tune with open source, it's still in beta. Best bang for your buck intake and dp's wise is a bms dual cone intake and raceland dp's

It depends on what you want and how far you plan to go. The JB4 and Procede are great choices for piggy backs and the Cobb and Open Flash Tablet are great choices for flash tunes.

I'd imagine I'll stick with the stock twins and maybe eventually to a e85 blend or complete (we have it readily available around here). I just found a car on here that made 400whp and 447trq with the Cobb, intakes, and exhaust.... I think just because I'm familiar with their interface that might be the way to go.

Most bang for the buck for hp, tune.

You won't see much gains from everything else until you have gotten a tune.

Everything else, people will always argue in what order you should get them....

Downpipes and filters on order.. Tuning interface TBD...but leaning towards cobb unless theirs some crazy limitation I don't know of.

The only limitation is in order to get it running perfect you will definitely need to etune which is going to cost more

If you have done open source tuning before, I would go with a BT cable to Flash and data log for a lot less than any other tune plus it won't be vin locked. Search around for Free open source tuning and you'll find info on the true open source flashing software that will be released in the next week weeks.

Then use the money you saved for an intercooler!

Honestly if its anything like the open source stuff for Subaru's I think I'll go Cobb since its my personal car. Constant updates to the program to get any where close to Cobb's interface was frustrating and risky during the flash process. I'll look into it but tried and true might be worth a couple extra bucks
