How much oil does your 335i use?

Hi guys,

The M54 engines in the E46 and E39 are known for oil consumption. But how does the N54 in the 335i compare in this regard? How much oil does yours use between oil services?

I've had my car for three years now, and so far I never had to add oil between the changes. The oil indicator went from full to about half way full, but never had the add oil message. With the N54 engine, a quart of burned oil in between changes seems to be quite normal.

I had to replace a quart of oil, but this was after we went on a long drive with a bunch of other bimmers through the Shenandoah valley, including M3s, M5s, Porsche, and a Ferrari on our Skyline run in northern VA.

I know I didn't have to do it, but I like the feel of a well-oiled machine.

Usually have to add about .5 qt in about 5K miles. When it gets close again I change it.

i for one love the electronic dipstick. it allows me to check my oil level as much as i want without doing more than pressing a few buttons.
now only if our tpms sensors showed us our tire pressures in PSI.

Mine is a N52 and it consumes 1 quart / 2200 miles.

I beat the crap of it. Another part of the problem is that recent gas engine gaskets are a bit weak.

following bmw's cbs, that's 7 quarts of oil each oil change interval.
just wondering, do you still perform oil changes?? (kidding)

For the record my M54 didn't consume oil. Annual oil change only. Two weeks ago, I bought 130$ of LL-01 oil.

i add about 1qt every 1000 miles or so... complained to the dealer and they told me that is normal and ok to burn up to 1qt every 750 miles... gave me a bmw notification with that exact message so i guess i have to suck it up and just keep adding

here were the last 3 times i have added 1qt each:
40,731 mi
41,505 mi
42,411 mi

they said M cars could burn even more...
