Michael @ Extreme Turbo Systems (ETS)

Just got off the phone with Michael at ETS. I explained that I'm attempting to go to the track tomorrow and the Texas heat is already in full swing (it's 98F right now as I type this). As such I asked if he could get me a FMIC tomorrow so that I can install it and then go to the track. He was able to hook me up with one of their 7" FMIC's, both the upper and lower charge pipes (flanged for a blow off valve I have lying around from my old Evo), and send it overnight so it's here by 3pm.

So I should be able to get home from work at 3pm, mount this intercooler, charge pipe, and BOV by 5:30pm...then drive out to the track by 6pm.

Excelent Service

And since I ran ETS parts on my Evolution MR I already know the quality of the parts I will be recieving is top notch.

Thanks for the review! You have a pretty tight timeline My only concern would be the trimming of the 7.0" intercooler other then that you should be golden!

Thanks,

Michael

i'm interested in the 7" version of the intercooler...thinking of possibly replacing my AMS unit. what exactly needs to be trimmed for this to fit? is it just the black plastic shroud? if so, that's easy...just didn't know if the actual bumper, support beams, etc needed to be modified to fit this beast.

It's the black plastic shroud that's behind the bumper beam. It's very similar to the HPF as far as install goes. The 5.0" intercooler sits pretty much against the black plastic shroud and with the 7.0" you need to trim about 2.0" forward, it's not that bad and once the bumper is put back on looks just like factory. I took mine 1 step further and trimmed out the 2 support brackets and removed the mesh so you can see the front mount, but it's a relatively straight forward install.

Thanks,

Michael

Cool. essentially identical to my AMS fmic install...i had to trim about 1" of the shroud and opted to cut those two vertical support brackets out as well for a clean look. hmmmm....i like the idea of the fmic sitting up closer to the actual bumper...since all you see is black plastic there anyways.

I posted that I was doing the install in 3hr back on 6/10/2011 at 12pm and if someone wants pictures to speak up. I get a request for pics 3 *days* later? Sorry jents...FMIC is mounted and snuggled up in it's home...not dismantling things again to take pics now.

i don't need pics of the install....i know how to install a fmic. i want to see the finished product....to get an idea of how far forward it sits with the bumper on and everything. if that's too much to ask...my bad.
