Registering new battery

Hi. I'm installing a new battery in my 2006 E60 with the same specs as the old one. When I try to register it with toolset 32/MDS80.PRG, there is nothing in throb list. I also tried MSV70 and MSV80. Any help?

Yes that's what I did. Connected the cable from obd to laptop, turned key so all the idiot lights were on, then accessed software. No job lists.

What engine do you have? Did you install everything correctly?

Engine is N52. I have used INPA, Ediabas and NCexpert before to code the aux function. So I believe it's all installed properly.

If your INPA is working you can register with that:

From the menu screen:

Select E90
Engine
MSD80 (for your N52 I think)
F5 - Status
F5 - IBS
F5 - Battery registration

Registration takes only a second. (You can check it by changing last step to F2 or F3 (I forget which one) to see mileage when battery last registered. If everything went correct current mileage should be shown.

I don't know why your tool32 is working - sorry.

Did you use Compatibility Mode? Right click on Tool icon and change compatibility to Windows XP.

If you already have a K+DCAN cable use BMW Logger. It's free for battery registration and you don't have to deal with installing the factory stuff.

I used BMW Logger - so easy! It makes me wonder if it actually works! But thanks for the tip.
