Scratch that, the mod shop successfully coded them for me. That's sweet as hell.

How can I tell what FRM module I have. Does anyone have a list of the module by year/model or something? Mine is a 2010 E93.

So if I have FRM3 then from what I have read I should just be able to add +MUH2 to the VO and the update CAS and NFRM and be good to go?

Can't Get LED Tails Working

Hi Guys,

I can't seem to get the LED tails working I just installed
2010 E93, FRM3

Everything works fine except I am getting Right & Left taillight error on Dash and the Tails Blink when starting car. Otherwise no issues I can see.

Everyone keeps says just add +MUH2 to VO and it should be good. But it has no affect. Also when I read out NFRM, it does not even have the entries you guys talk about except for Warm & Cold Brake Light check. None of the others exist. I did a search in the file and manually scrolled through it too.

What am I doing wrong?

When I added the +MUH2 I added it to CAS and NFRM module. Is there something else I have to do?

Thanks

Sean, I believe you're supposed to reset the NFRM by changing the job to SG_CODIEREN one you finish writing the VO. I tried the same on my 2010 (FRM3) and ran I to the same issues you did so I just coded the cold bulb check values afterward.

I'd also like to know what step I missed or if this is an issue that only affects 2010 US cars with FRM3.

What values did you code out because I don' see any of the ones they listed in this post in NFRM

You're missing a step. Here's what you do:

1. Add +MUH2 to BOTH your CAS and your FRM VO.
2. After that, Set your job to SG_Codieren.
3. Set the job module to FRM.
4. Execute job.

This will reset your FRM to default settings based upon what your VO is. If you have an FRM3, you will have zero errors. If you are getting errors immediately after doing this, you either did something wrong, or you do not have FRM3.

If you have FRM2, replace +MUH2 with +MUEB and do the exact same steps. If you have errors after that you did something wrong.

This thread will cover all steps here

Thanks so much! That was the step I missed.
I had the VO added to CAS and NFRM but forgot to the code NFRM back to default.

I lost a few things I coded before in NFRM, but those were easily added back.
Once I did that everything worked perfect, so much easier than manually doing all those checks.

Plus the new VO added new lines related specifically to LED taillights to the NFRM module. I did a trace file compare in NCS dummies and saw all the new entries. This is definitely the correct way to do it.

Thanks again!

Heh, this type of thing makes me smile. I helped oldbmwreader a week or two ago with his tails and adding to the VO and then recoding the module, and then he helped you get yours working the same way. Great to see people helping each other and knowledge passing on like an actual community.

Hi there

Does this mean, that I can retrofit a set of LCI tail lights on my 07 E92 (which probably has a FRM2 module) and just proceed with these 4 steps?

As I understood I had to either upgrade to FRM3, or add/reset a lot of different cold/warm bulb checks.

My car is a 2010 model and so it comes with FRM3 (from September 2009 and forward). Your FRM2 module requires the manual way of disabling the checks.

FRM2 can do the same method as FRM3, actually - no need for manual bulb checks! Just use +MUEB instead of +MUH2 and follow the same steps (add +MUEB to VO, write VO to FRM and CAS, reset the FRM module).

JonglÝren, you may want to check your FRM version to be sure. If the car was built after 03/2007, you most likely have an FRM2. If it was built earlier, you may have an FRMFA which will require manually disabling bulb checks.

Awesome... I hope

My car is built 7/2007, so it probably is a FRM2 module.

I will check it out... and let you know. Will probably need some further advice on the coding. I'm a total rookie in that department.

Oops, you are right, I forgot about the VO code for FRM2. Just remember if you had any coding previously done to FRM 2 you will lose it when you reset the module and have to add it back in.
