sat 30 ft from a GT-R for 10 hrs today, I'm honestly not nor have I ever been impressed with its styling or anything that wasn't on paper. A 911 is going to be so much more fun to drive and not just push a gas pedal down.

Sitting next to ≠ driving though. The styling is meh but I've heard the performance and grip from the GTR is just absurd.

Oh I know I am just saying styling doesn't do it for me one bit and I'd rather go with perennial tried and true sports car icon.

GT-R is nice, but the issues to date has lost my interest (in addition to the high maintenance costs, something I can't afford!)

I'm not saying to get the GTR over a porsche in a perfect world but given budget constraints, it is a respectable alternative.

I would buy a gtr all day over a cayman or a c2s, 911 turbo is another story

I thought there was something I missed when the con for the gtr was maintenance. Porsche will be worse. Or are we assuming that Porsches heritage will keep it low maintenance.

Yea, i am estimating about $3k a year for maint and repairs on the 911 and $4k a year on the gtr. They both are expensive, but the transmission on the GTR and the more expensive 20inch tires push the gtr higher.

From a site, luxury4play, may not be the best source, but GT-R maintenance seems excessive!

maybe, I would need to look into on the GTR. I know with the 911, its a bitch to work on the engine as its crammed in the back. Spark plug changes are in the 900 range at the dealership cause you cant get to them easily. The gtr would likely be easier as you can at least access the engine. I am basing this on a i am lazy and will just pay approach. I loved working on my car, but am kinda tired of it. When its cheaper per hours to pay someone to work on it than I make, it starts being less fun.

i was looking at the gtr switzer 800 package last night. Its gross. 9 sec car for about $85k. To bad the repairs and main costs would go way up. I couldnt image how fast I would go through tires, breaks, lawyers, etc.
