eliminate the vehicles factory top speed limiter/governor
Hi Guys,
Has anyone had success with this? And if so, do you have to remove when dealer visit etc.. Any Error Codes... Info below from website cp-e (Custom Performance Engineering) BMW xLimit™ "Got a need for speed? Increase the Top Speed of your BMW For those who want a higher top speed the xLimit™ is an electronic device designed specifically for your BMW to eliminate the vehicles factory top speed limiter/governor. Simply Plugs directly into your ECU and instantly removes your top speed governor." |

If you have an aftermarket tune such as the Procede and I believe the JB3 as well you can turn off the governor. I am not sure about the Flash tunes. If you don't have a tune I don't think you can, not something that can be coded

BMS sells a similar unit for 85 iirc. And yes it will void your warranty due to the fact there is more than one module that records top speed.
The Procede will eliminate the top speed limiter if you do not have a pwm meth kit. Vishnu claims an aftermarket delimiter will come out for those with pwm meth kits but no news on that front. The jb4 does not have an included delimiter. You'll need to buy an external box for that feature.

Hmmm so more than one module records top speed...
So if you Plug directly into your ECU and it instantly removes your top speed governor, then drive at higher speeds, remove it when dealer visit, the dealer will still see records of higher top speeds and straight out void the factory warranty??? Also isnt this cp-e x-limit just a plug and play for the stock cpu ? Can you confirm the JB3 eliminates speed limiter? Cheers and thanks for your time... |

yes the dealer will still void your warranty because it saves codes in the cars computer.
and the jb3 does not get rid of your speed limiter. you can get a BT scan tool and that way when you remove the speed delimiter for a dealer visit you can clear the hidden codes and then they wont void your warranty |

Perfect,
So can get the cost effective plug and play cp-e x-limit but would need bt scanner or Procede "chip" which will increase hp/tq & eliminate speed limiter AND wipe out higher speed codes (delimiter) etc... Is that about right? Cheers once again |

NICE!!!
So you still have to remove procede "chip" when visiting dealer, or can you leave it in your cars ECU? It sounds good though, regardless... + raised levels to approx 380hp & 340tq ??? p.s. Is an oil cooler needed with this entry level mapping etc... |

You can not see the max top speed of the car nor the dealer and there is no speed code to erase. BMW can see it when they download info from the car.

The data is logged from the speed sensor. I know of people getting their warranties voided for running delimiters. If you're in warranty, don't do it.

Depends what kind of work the dealer is doing. Most local work done by dealer won't matter.
It's when you doing extensive work that the dealer has to contact BMW headquarters that they download your cars info.
