Why were N54 injectors recalled?

Just looking through the receipts from the previous owner of my car and noticed the injectors were subject to a recall in 2012.

So nice to know they were changed then, just wondered what the problem was with them?

"The piezo injectors may cause misfire faults with erratic engine operation"

From the recall notice from BMW. Search "SI B13 14 10" if you want more info on it.

They failed and leaked. The new ones are okay but I still think they can fail prematurely. Mine have held up since the recall

There have been at least three different part numbers.
I have the latest revision which can't me mixed in the same bank with the old ones.

They leak from the residual pressure in the fuel rail and make the car run rough on cold starts.

Can't think of the correct term but is this recall still "vaild"?
How can I check if it was done on my car?

Have a dealer tell you. Once done, it will not be done again.
