Further to Morphius' post, here are a couple of pix of the Ruby Black with stoneshield (relatively clean), and an interior shot for those who haven't seen it. If the sun were higher in Calgary the irridescent 'ruby' metallic colour would show even better. It looks pretty good in the full sun, even though the angle is pretty low these days. Can't wait for summer!!
The stoneshield is even thinner than it previously was. When clean it is almost invisible from certain angles.

My 3M guard looks pretty much the same when it's sparkling clean.

I'll be interested to see if the new stuff is effective (I guess if it isn't they'll be paying for a paint job). My experience with my old 335i was that the front end was so low it attracted every stone nearby. ![]()

I hate to sound like a broken record but why do you guys use that stuff? It exagerates the already brutal orange peel on these cars. Its like putting plastic on your couch. I can almost see doing the entire hood. Doesnt that line get annoying?

I did it to save the paint BUT I do wish I did the full hood to avoid seeing that line. Oh well, too late now.

The front of the 335i is so low, it almost 'attracts' stones. They hit it easily -- I had a 328i previously and it never got hit much. But my last 335i I didn't put a stoneshield on. $2,000 worth of paint later.....let's just say I learned my lesson. Do I love how it looks? Sure, when it's clean it's almost invisible. The rest of the time - meh, it's just doing its job.

Love it. Big change for me from an MT to an AT (bad hip). Love the seats with the lumbar support. Faster off the line than my old 335i; the colour is stunning; the interior is 'almost' M-like.
Took it up to Red Deer on Saturday (~300 km round trip) and had quite a bit of fun on the road. Max power seems to kick in around 3500 RPM, with a kick more at around 5000 (I believe this is the overboost). I've found running in the manual mode a little tricky - shift points seem different than on MT, and actually shifting when turning requires using the gear shift rather than the paddles. So, still working out how exactly to do that stuff smoothly. Worth it though? Every penny. Oh yah - the exhaust. It's pretty loud in an underground garage, with the tailpipes against a wall. ![]() If you have a wife, don't let her hear that part first.....

From the .PDF we were given, the ruby looked tacky, and was more suited for a 50year old retiree....but after all these pictures, im started to regret not getting it! The colour is absolutely beautiful, and i love how it looks black normally, but under the sun it kinda comes alive
SO EXCITED! |

Yeah, I should hire someone to wash it for me every evening so I can see the ruby shine in the sun the next day.... like that's going to happen. So, I finally hit just over 2000 km and everywhere I go, it's wall to wall traffic - no place to open it up and push it....

Yeah my wife has heard the 335IS and loved it!!! ![]() What do you think of the suspension? Is it THAT soft? I'll be coming from a 128i sport and it is the only thing I think I can miss from it... |

anyone in toronto with further updates on cars that were sent back to the port? i am contemplating writing to bmw canada to discuss the issue and potential compensation for their mistake. i mean i can understand if it was out of their control but this is a logistical fail. dealer told me 2 weeks since my original delivery date and 2 weeks is tomorrow...i havent heard any news on when the car will be coming...a bit upset about the whole thing.

If you write that letter, I will definitely sign it. Maybe others will too and we can do it petition-style. The only questions is what do you/we want for compensation? Top-of-the-line floor mats? $100 gift cards for the "BMW Lifestyle" shop? ![]()
