Custom DIYs to reduce drone?

So I'm curious what things you guys have done to reduce drone on an exhaust. I'm not referring to adding resonators on the midpipe (though feedback on that would be great). Some people say resonators only remove the high frequency noise.
I mean like adding rubber dampeners at some point along the piping or on the muffler. Or maybe sticking a tennis ball at certain spot. Wrapping the piping in something. Dynamatting? Anyone have any success with any sort of noise reduction? |

cruise in 4/5th gear on commutes?! haha, yes that's a solution but there are more hands on things that could be done..
I'm considering maybe having someone rev to 2200 rpm while my car is on jackstands, and I could feel which parts are making the most noise/vibrating the most. Someone get a rubber block to push up against that area and the chassis. Something like this but bigger. http://www.amazon.com/Mr-Gasket-1284...0436138&sr=8-3 |

I love the sound of AMS CBE but the drone was killing me so I sold it. Now I have AE CBE with 0 drone which I love but I'm not really feeling the sound exhaust at WOT but then again no drone at all

There was a member on here that welded the stock rubber exhaust dampener to their aftermarket exhaust. He said that that it didn't help with the drone and maybe slightly helped with rasp.
To use a rubber dampener to help with drone, it has to be specifically engineered to offset the drone (frequency) of the exhaust setup. I would love to have a "bolt" on solution to the drone without changing the tone of the exhaust. |

I've thought about doing this and read up on it but haven't taken action. I think a bolt on version like the one picture below would make the most sense. You could keep moving it through trial and error as I think you need to have the car under load. Btw, I should mention the 335 already has one damper installed. I removed it to see if my minimal drone would reduce. It didn't, but that doesn't mean adding another in a different location won't fix the issue.
I should note that I have an aftermarket exhaust and it's an AT. Read: drone around 2k. ![]() ![]() Read more here: http://www.mercurymarauder.net/forum...ad.php?t=43329 |
