Can anyone re code/program these units from a home set up? Mines died too. DIS says to recode the unit.

My problem is that the bluetooth works but will not disconnect. After I make a call and end it, the radio will not come back on. None of the buttons work and even turning the phone off does nothing. I just get a message that says "Connection active"

any idea of what to do? My car is an 07, could this be solved by a new battery?

Hi,

I was driving home from work this afternoon and noticed my radio kept cutting out for a second or so every so often, at first I just presumed it was bad reception, so I changed to a cd (headunit) and it was even more obvious on a cd, i then realised the BT wasnt connected, clicked on menu on my professional headunit (non idrive) and noticed the TEL symbol changing to --- every few seconds or so, quick google lead me here so i'm guessing my MULF is borked, i've unplugged it and the radio reception is fine, so I'm guessing a new unit is required, or loose the cd changer and get a parrot or something but I dont really want to do that, i hummed and harred over the last couple of months on wether to get a warranty but didnt bother question is if I buy a used mulf module does it have to be the exact same one and would it need coding to work in my car?

mine has a part number of 84.21 9-116725-01

Hi, was that inc diagnostic? I'd happily pay that amount to get it working again

There are quite a few connections on the +ve terminal. Might be worth a try although im guessing u would have lights on the dash.
Needless to say im very happy!

Just what i said in my post. Its was a dodgy connection on the battery terminal. If you take the right hand trim out of the boot you will see the battery. Its a complicated terminal with multiple connections, one of those wasnt tight.
An easy fix in the end.

No sorry, it was just a loose nut on one of the contacts. If you have tried that and didnt help then i dont think thats your problem.

Hi
I bought my 330d nearly a year ago and bluetooth was not sending any voice to speakers.
I tried everything but none worked. It was connecting just fine but no sound.

Yesterday we took it out with my mate. TCU unit out of my boot
6 x T15 torx out to take it apart
Inside there are two logic boards.
Took another 5x T15 to take those out
Than I reheated both of those using my Heat Gun on 550c setting.
I was just going over it so I could see solder to melt a bit.

Put all back together and it work like a charm!!

Sound going in and out, no disconnecting issues.

I nearly bought another unit for over a 100 on ebay, but thought will try it first.

Money saved and bluetooth can be used again.
Really happy

Any questions please ask

Oh and just to clarify to everyone, I also tried swapping my mates unit to my car to see weater its a Radio or bluetooth device,
His unit was exactly same part number made by Motorola.

It worked just fine in my car, with no alarms, errors, or coding needed.

So if anyone is thinking about it, just buy same unit on ebay, with same number and it will work just fine, no coding is needed on this one.

Hope it will help anyone

I can confirm running the heat gun over the Bluetooth module worked a charm for me also. The module in my e92 had just one board inside and it was around 170 for the cheapest second hand one.

Thanks neo61uk!

You need to update your software on your bluetooth module.

You need to update your software on your bluetooth module.
Can that be done without going to the Dealers ?

even colder this morning and it lasted obout 10 mins.

sounds like its something to do with the module getting to a certain temperature.

would anyone know if that would concur with the heat gun method that is mentioned above.

neo61uk, I will attempt the heat gun solution. Question.....for you (or anyone) Can you tell me the details on how long to apply the heat gun ? I have a 2007 328i wagon, the phone icon disappears after a few minutes (---) , then I have to unplug again, but it doesn't really seem to stay on very long, then pretty much vanishes...... Help !!

Thanks Martin, I opened the module. I don't see where it says Ericsson on the board. There are two boards, a large one, and a smaller one. Which is the the one I want to heat up ? Thank you again, John

Ok fellows, I performed the heat gun project on the circuit board. I was careful not to overheat, so I was unsure if it got hot enough....but.....It seems as though it's working fine now....thanks to all that helped !! Will update again in a few days.......Thanks again !

I'm no electrician, is it straight foward?
Is it simply just taking it apart and blowing the gun over the circuit board?
What heat and how long for?
Cheers
