My 'xenon' h8 bulb AE write up

So I thought I'd see what the Xenon effect bulbs we're like and brought these; claiming to be the exact spec as the GP thunders http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/BMW-H8-XEN...item35a3ef31c4

Quote:
- 7500k Colour temp. (See the chart above)
- 30% Brighter than standard halogens
- 35 watt.
- Fused quartz glass with ion coating for high power output
(Pictures were only editted to block out number plate)

Unpackaged and compared to OEM I thought I'd test this theory of the 30% brightness with my lux tester, not 100% accurate but gives a rough guide (distance from bulb was slighty greater from probe on the 'Xenon' bulb the picture show), results show OEM is much brighter..... but 'xenon' bulbs were whiter..

Before

After

^ yes it was in the shade not in direct sun, that shots coming....

I have a couple of 50/50 shots along with a 50/50 shot in direct sun light

and the last image with the Xenons on the colour temp reduces on the angels to be more OEM (which was expected)

Conclusion, well for 8 (roughly $12/13) it was worth a punt, it made a difference but they're not as bright as OEM. I'd prefer them to be more defined and brighter but

Hi dizzle,
have you looked into LED Angel eyes at all? they are a pure white 6500k color, as bright or brighter then stock, and they offer even light output between the inner/outer ring

I have Marc; finding most have the same results as the bulbs (uneven and not very visible in daylight) or are either way to costly, for example LuxH8...$245....157+shipping and fees...believe a UK member here imported and the foot bill was $320...so 200

Just to add to this, I swear these are dimmer than the install date.....which I've read about some cheap bulbs, so at the next available moment I will be switching back to OEM and will stick with them.
