Are you sure? A 6k Jag sounds like a time bomb to me.

E36 M3 - best bang for buck all day long!

And you still maintain the German prestige.

Are 4 door E36 M3s not pretty hard to find? I think I've only ever seen 1.

the Focus sounds like a good choice to me. I've never met anyone who has or had a Focus and didn't think it was great. My boss has one as a run around to keep his DBS from getting dirty and he raves about it.

I did a search - and E36 M3 is actually pretty good value as folks dont seem to value it as much.

The focus st is def in my mind as a possibility .... remap it gets 280 out of it - which is plenty.

Without wishing to offend owners, The E36 M3 was considered the weaker model in the M3 line -up.

He'll be hard pushed to find a decent 07 plate GTi - perhaps a 55/06. But I'd definitely 2nd the choice. Owned one for a year. Fab car.

Its all relative. E36 M3 is still a good car. Only real downsides are its chavvy image (though IMO less and less of an issue these days, and who casres anyway) and potential running costs.

Fantastic drivers cars-presume it's a DC2 at that price?
If it's a DC5,I'd be snapping his hand off!
Any pics...?

Yep ..DC2!

I find i prefer the DC2 - a real raw edge to it, the DC5 softened some of those raw corners which is a bit of a shame!

Will see if i can grab some pics!

starting to rethink the integra idea... its 12 yr old car.... i might be letting myself in for some big bills.

AND

Just seen a subaru wrx 05 plate with PPP pack for 6450 from a subaru main dealer - so that comes with a yrs warranty. And 0-60 in that is 4.8 secs!!

OR

The Focus ST has really started to appeal... dammit!!

You're right re the age of the DC2.Even though its a pretty solid car,it will be showing it's age...
For your budget, you will be getting a lot of car as the cost of fuel, tax and insurance is turning a lot of people off.
I'd go for something newer ie the impreza or an ST.
Depends if you can live with the looks of the impreza-how about a wagon-much more subtle...?
I know nowt about the realities of ST ownership-i think some test drives will hone your searching!

Scooby any day out of those two.

One of the few cars I ever had that I was really sad to see go (almost a tear in the ol' eye)!

Such character and all weather performance. Boxer engine sounded great as well, and the way it revved to 7k, wow.

Only downside...fuel especially on Mway.

either one! I had a mazda6 MPS and LOVED it... miss it still, but it is thirsty and heavy, but understated quick! road tax is high too... only reason I sold was the costs of my mileage, but if you are doing only weekend and evening use, it is lovely.
