328xi coupe staggered rims question...

I know I'm beating a dead horse here, but seeing as this is a strictly xi section I figured you guys had more knowledge. I want to buy this set for my E92 328xi

http://www.**********s.com/Velocity-...-Staggered.htm

Good idea? Bad? What tires would you recommend?

They look awesome IMO, but from what I'm reading for best performance a square setup seems ideal for our cars. However, a lot of guys still like the staggered look. Also there's a thread about VMR wheels chipping easily and not being covered under warranty though how true it is you'll have to guess.

I decided finally to go with the Forgestar F14's but they're quite a bit more expensive. Otherwise, I'd say those wheels you chose are pretty nice.

Many people are running those wheels on their car...a 235/40/18 and 275/35/18 tire set up would be ideal for an xi with staggered 18" wheels

a better setup with the 18 is a 265/35/18 in rear with that size in the front. Otherwise you are more than 1%...

I hate to cause damage to my car down the road just so my back wheels could stick out 1 more inch, but man does it make a difference in looks. Thanks for your advice guys.

It has nothing to do with the width. It's all about the diameter.

Think about a 4x4 dually pickup truck. It's a staggered setup. Wider.

235/35/19 front, 275/30/19 rear are the exact same diameter. You won't get any closer.

You mean 235/35/18 275/30/18 right?

I looked at the 18 inch sizes and really didn't find an exact match. There probably is.

wheels and tires

I put 235/35/19 and 265/30/19 on my 328xi and I have no problems and it looks great! I bought the wheels (M3 replica) and tires (Vredestein Ultrac Sessanta) from soratwheels.ca, good pricing too.

Hey guys, thought I'd bump this now that I actually purchased the rims and got sizes to help in your answers.

18x8.5 ET40
18x9.5 ET33

What's the ideal tire size I should get for the xi? Thanks!

235/40ZR18 Front 25.4 inches overall diameter
265/35ZR18 Rear 25.3 inches overall diameter

I can't see a pair that gets closer to the same diameter in an 18 inch.

Thanks for the reply man. Yea I think I'm going to go with those sizes. Pretty pricey in those sizes.

18x8.5 +40/18x9.5 +33 with 235/40 and 265/35 is what we recommend for your vehicle. This will be sitting flush on all 4 corners without the need of any kind for aftermarket hardware or modifications to the vehicle.

Hello Charles,

Could you tell me exact which size & offset & tire size you would recommend when going with a 19" rim on an xi?

Thank you

I'm personally running the following setup on my 08 xi coupe with stock suspension...

19x8.5 ET 40 with 235/35/19 Hankooks on the front
19x10 ET 38 with 265/30/19 Hankooks on the rear

This setup works great. However on my next set of tires I will try to go with 275's to give the rear lip a little more protection.

More or less it's the same sizing, just in 19" with the appropriate tire sidewall height. I'll PM you with more info.

I have a 2008 335xi sedan and I currently have the staggered set up being (18x8f, 18x8.5r) 225/40 18f 255/35 18r. A friend of mine was going to sell me his oem e46 m3 rims. (18x8f, 18x9r). I would want to go a little wider on the set up so if I go to a 235/40 18f and a 265/35 18 rear is that with in spec? If not what would the proper ratio be? What is the tolerance for front and back on an all wheel drive car?

P.S.
My car is unmodified will the above mentioned size even fit?

Is any chance to put H&R sport springs with this setup, without rolling fenders??
