320si mpg
My car has done 54k full bmw history. Can't seem to get it above 23mpg average. Is this normal for a si. Drive 14 miles a day to and from work. Love the car, awesome handling & engine, but 1 thing and its my 1st beemer. I don't seem to be getting used to changing gear compared to the mk5 lol. Don't know if its the biting point difference but i keep making it judder which can get annoying when trying to make quick progress. Anyone else found this lol

14 miles to/from work ain't gonna allow your engine to attain full operating temperature for much of the journey.

Ah ok chaps, another one of those normal things with the Si then. I know you were't a big fan of the lack of torque Johnny but overall, did you like the Si?

It was ok, but driving my dads 325d, which is alot faster, and easily knocks out 50mpg was a sickener for me. You have to ring its neck, constantly in the redline area to keep it alive which was tiring and very expensive. Then there is the massive unreliabilty of the engine to add to all of this.

i'd agree with you Jonny on it not being that quick, but coming from 2 diesels, i'm sorry but you can't compare a diesel to this car. You get proper sports car handling and a feel you just can't get from a derv...

I'm glad i bought a 325i i was tempted by a 320i thinking it would be more fuel efficent being only 4 cylinder but my 6 cylinder 325i has returned 28mpg over the last 3months of ownership and thats alot of short town trips to work

320si consumption
Mine takes 10.8 l/100 km, I drive 40km to work and 40km back. Speed 180 kmh tacho when its free to drive. So it is not bad IMO. Now they rework the highway, so there is limit on few kilometers and cons. went down to 10.2
Once I tried to be nice during trip to Germany, did not went over 140 kmh speed and consumption was around 9 l/100 (26MPG) (senior style). On trackdays it takes 22-24 l/100, but never more. ![]() The engine did 50.000 km with no trouble yet. I use 0W-30 Castrol oil, change each 15-20000 km. I had 320d touring E91 (with modified ECU) before my SI, it made 7,5 l/100 but low cons. of a diesel or high torque cannot beat the real sporty feeling and sound of 320si in 7000 RPM ![]()

That sounds about right. I used to give my car the beans as often as poss. I do miss it sometimes my F10 is way too big and unwieldy to drive as opposed to my E90 which I could easily throw around corners etc...

These MPG figures are silly!!! on a light but brisk 45 mile round trip I got 27.1 MPG. A normal heavy-ish footed drive but not thrashing around 21.6 MPG I just cant understand how the four cyl engines can drink that much fuel????

No matter how many badges you stick on the car or call it "Sport" edition. Vastly underpowered, less torque than a hairdryer and 335i like MPG... Good news coming in the F30 though as the turbo editions will be a different game vs current models. |

I have drived: 335i, 530d, 125i, X1 23i and yes they are faster, but no feel and magic like in the 320si. The engine is a handbuilt WTCC raceengine i dont think all on E90 post know!?
