Smile Airbag warning light stuck on.

My 2006 E90 320i came up with an Airbag warning light after my wife and kids had been out in it. I searched these forums first and was suspecting someone had put a knee through a seat sensor pad! I took it to an Auto Electrician with a scan tool and the result was something like "Battery Safety Terminal". This of course is the module that disconnects the battery in a crash after the air bags have fired. He unplugged the small 2 or 3 wire plug on top of the battery and wiggled it back together, saying the impedance needed to be less than 3 ohms (ideally zero) but the resistance can build up with dirty contacts. He then cleared the code and re-tested all ok. This was a relief that it wasn't a seat sensor pad or something expensive to replace. So it's up to you if you ever want to give this a go to clear your Airbag light, I take no responsibility for any damage caused.
