Roast dinner conundrum!

Please help me settle a serious argument at work, people.

On a roast dinner, would you expect to have roast potatoes, mash, or both?

Clearly roast. I've heard the mash argument but always called them on being insane.

Got to be roast, if you're feeling bad, you can roast the spuds in the meat juices

+1.Mash is for sausage and maybe a pie.A roast needs roast potatoes, hence the name.

Roast as a minimum. Though mash can be added. Mash with no roast potatoes is (as already pointed out) clearly wrong.

:edit:

Though I have consulted with Mrs. rich1068 and she'd go for mash. But she's foreign so her opinion can be safely ignored.

Agreed. I sometimes add a bit of mash but I'd no more have a roast dinner without roast potatoes than I'd go out and buy an SE, in the buff.
