330d reamp

Hi All

Apologies if this has been covered many times before...but...the market now seems saturated with remaps. I've just purchased a 2006 E91 330d M sport manual with 90k on the clock. I love it but know that a remap is the way forward. I've run a Mk 4 golf 1.8t for 7 years - 6 of those with a Revotechnik remap. This made the golf a different car with far better torque, overtaking ability and fuel economy - the car it should have been as stock. (I think I would have changed it soon after if I hadn't had it mapped).

Any recommendations as it seems there's more people doing it now than when I got my golf mapped! This just adds to my confusion.

I drive my cars normally most of the time but put my foot down when the mood suits.

Cheers

The forum sponsors, P-Torque and Evolve, both come very highly recommended by many happy customers.

Evolve do a handheld device, I don't think P-Torque do. E-Maps are mobile and have nothing but good reviews across every forum I've ever used, or failing all that there's Superchips who probably have a franchise close to you.

Whats the benefit of a ECU remap and a plug and play device like DTUK other than the obvious ability to remove the plug and play device as needed.

Is one better than the other in terms of performance/economy gain?

You get a Dyno and Map from P Torque for a price neither of them will match and E maps can't do.

But E-Maps are the cheapest?

Last time I looked E-Maps were 100 less than P-Torque. Evolve just charge way too much for the handheld unit so they get blown out of the water.

Work permitting I'm getting mine done next week, E-Maps were top of the list but if P-Torque are cheaper and still come highly rated I could possibly be swayed.

Do Emaps give you a Dyno?

If you can get to PTorque on a Quiet day instead of a busy day maybe you can negotiate a better price?

Ill best honest i wouldn't pay more than 300 for a Remap and dyno for a non encrypted ECU.

I went with plug and play from DTUK.

I don't much like the issue that come with the latest ECU and the encryption on them. Unlike the older ECU's you can switch back and forth between maps (when you need to) but so far no one has come up with a way of doing this on the new ones so the DTUK approach works better for me. Plug and Play all the way!

Selling mine if anyone is interested, DTUK Red Power System.

Works on the 320D (184ps), 325D and 330D.

Cheers

Thanks guys. I'm not interested in any hand held units - why would I want to change it back to stock when the car is outside warranty?Emaps seem like a popular choice....

So many recommendations like this and locality made e-maps a no-brainer,despite a lot if research into the alternatives.
DMS didn't bother to get back in touch,so I'll leave it with them...

+1.

No-one gets more recommendations than Simon, you only have to go on Bmwland.co.uk to read the fantastic feedback E-Maps receive.

Got remap with Simon from emaps. Top bloke.

No flat spots, better mid/top range, better economy. And obviously a **** load more power and torque.

Sweeet!

A no brainer.
