Barter (Norcal): Your coding for use of my BT tool to clear codes

Hey northern Californians,

Just trying this to see if I can get these 2 things coded for my car (I forgot to get them coded last time I paid for coding, whoops)

- Disable seatbelt warnings for driver and passenger
- Disable iDrive start up legal disclaimer

If you code for me, you can use my BT tool to clear codes and if you don't need it right away, you can use it later.

I'm located in Berkeley, CA. Thanks a bunch!

If someone has a coding cable we also can clear our own codes Sorry sourphish.

But please give me a PM and I can give you a quote. You may be happy with having us code for you

Ahh didnt realize that. Does that basically make the BT tool nearly obsolete now and for future cars?

BT tool take almost no learning curve so it's still user friendly.
Coding is much more involved so people may still opt for BT

I would say it's obsolete, yes.

If you can use BT you can code the basic things like corner delete etc. Stuff like retrofitting combox/enabling dvd-in-motion is more difficult but if you know how to hex edit XBOX 360 game saves it's not that difficult either. Similar stuff.

Setting it up is probably the hardest part.

After that you are literally opening a text file, changing "nicht_aktiv" to "aktiv" and saving the text file. Then you click a button. Done.

This Guide can help.

I don't have much time nowadays otherwise I'd gladly do it for free.

Hmm, I see. Thanks for the info everyone.
So, let's say you throw tuner codes and god knows what else other ECU codes, you will now be able to clear them via coding?

Ya.. with greater range and efficiency probably too.

See doesn't look hard right? Double click the program, press a few buttons.

Getting the program to work is arguably the hardest part like I had stated. But a benevolent forum member kindly put together a detailed step by step pdf guide.

This is just like jailbreaking. The real coders/crackers work hard to make it real simple for the masses to jailbreak. And then some of the masses go to craigslist to offer the service for $20 to market to the less inclined/informed.

I help with specific questions all day long for DIYers, and have ever since my account CasperSYTFU.
I offer my service for less than cable costs.
I see no problem offering my time and ability for those that would rather have someone do it for them.

This kind of comment gets old

I had no negative connotation in my statement. It's your prerogative to market your services. You pay the vendor fee, you have the right (or whatever arrangement you have with Detail Addict).

But I stand by my statement that the target market is the less inclined/less informed.

I can look up a DIY to take off my front bumper. I'd rather pay someone else to do it. Thus, I am in the "less inclined" category.

Sorry for off topic. I have no quarrel with you Grant and I apologize if my comments (perhaps from my DIY gung-ho-ness) rubbed you the wrong way.

Thank you again for being a helpful member of the community.

No no I understand what your saying. But we're not all out to make a killing.
That's all. Plus I feel vendors should really support someone doing it themselves if they choose just like you were saying. That's why I'll help step by step with someone that wants to. No hard feelings, I think more comments have been happening like that from people charging a COUPLE hundred for coding which is outrageous.

any way lol back on topic. Sourphish feel free to hit me up or if you'd like to spend a little more on the cable theres a good amount of info in here to do more yourself

sorry to get side tracked lol nothing but love for everyone
