So, yeah.... I got a ticket in Detroit for 35% tints? wtf!
There's no way I'm going to:
-Take my tints off and drive ALL THE WAY to Detroit.
-Go to court in Detroit.

I'm going to have to end up paying the $xxx fine and taking a couple points on my license.
WTF!?

That's messed up Sean because I have 35% all around also. The cops never fuck with me about my tints when I'm in Detroit and I'm there almost 3 weekends out of a month during the summer. I have tan interior, so mine doesn't look as dark as yours.

There shouldn't be points for tint - you just pay the ticket, cheaper than redoing it. At least in Ottawa county.

Wow, in Detroit? Was it state trooper? If it's local, they care less about running reds...forget tint.

Sucks to hear! It shouldn't be points. Make sure you read up on your paperwork. It should be like $80 or so w/ no points, waived if you get it removed and show it to a police officer in the district.

that totally sucks man. not worth driving out to fight. may as well just pay the fine.

Look up the code in the police site for the city you got caught in. It should have a list of charges and associated costs/points.

If I got pulled over for 35% tint last week, I don't even want to know this law and how much they enforce it....

it won't trigger the CEL (increase emission) as long as you keep factory primary cat intact, hence, your situation (cat-back exhaust), you won't need to worry about the emission. As for the smell, same story, if you leave your primary cat alone, it won't be too bad except the first heating cat cycle of the cold start.
