Does catback void warranty, or turboback?

I talked to my service department today asking them if a catback or turboback voids the warranty. The shop manager got on the phone and said that a catback doesn't because usually they are for sound and that he coudn't comment on a turboback because if it gets rid of the cats which is illegal he cannot comment on it. He said usually they don't care because it doesn't add much power or put more stress on the drivetrain. I told him that 335i's are seeing 20-50 hp gains with exhaust's and since that's a considerable amount if something in the drivetrain broke I was afraid they might want to fight it.

Has anyone had a problem getting warranty work done by adding turboback?

I know that they have to be able to prove it directly effected it, etc, blah, blah, but I just want to know if I would even get resistence from them about it.

I don't even think anyone has a turboback yet to begin with to comment the warranty work.

I doubt there will be a problem, turboback is essentially a longer catback. The only problem I can see that arises from a turboback is the o2 going bad prematurely.

Nobody is seeing 20 or 50hp with catbacks. Maybe 10-15hp. One extreme example with a custom downpipe had a 26hp gain.

I'm sure you can see quite a bit of power gain if you really want to....meaning making that Bhp, not Whp, and using C4 or 100+ racing gas, haha. But this would just be another example of dyno racing.

turbo back is almost worthless without the right software to take advantage of it.

You have to be VERY carefull about what you consider voiding the warrenty. DONT expect to get your turbos replaced if they wear out because they are the same part # as the entire exhaust.

It depends on what breaks. If it is the cause of the break then yes. If not then no.

The reason I said 20-50 is because the supersprint turboback showed a 26hp gain on a stock system. I'm don't know alot about this stuff but I assumed if your pushing more boost with a xede or procede, that the flow becomes more important. You guys don't think you could see maybe 35hp with a turboback on a proceded 335i, with a tune?

lol. This post became funny. Anyways, hopefully there will be something around these data to increase the performance of the 335i. So far, I have not seen anything. I was wonderting your same question though Cornhusker.
