Anyone else want a thicker intercooler..and larger oil cooler?

Hope one of the tuners comes out with both...I know Eric @ Supreme Power is checking into a larger intercooler..not sure about the oil cooler. I think Turner Motorsports is looking into both as well.

won't a larger intercooler introduce some turbo lag into your system or cause a drop in low-rpm torque or both?

Not unless you increase the piping to a large degree. OEM intercooler from Audi and BMW seem to be of the low cost variety..with plastic endcaps and such. I am not talking about installing a huge intercooler...just one that has a bit more surface area..with essentially the same frontal footprint.

I heard Turner is working on an intercoolor w/ pipes as well. I really look forward to it. Besides "filling the gaps", driving in europe is almost always "spirited". Better cooling is always a plus.

I asked about the larger intercooler way back in December and have yet to see anything.
Even though I know better, many said the car didn't need a larger intercooler even with tuning. LOL
I'm positive the car would benefit from a larger I/C

turbo lag comes from the amount of time for the tubo to spin up not the amount of time for the turbo to pressurize the piping after its spun up

go look at the TT vettes w/ rear mounted turbos and enough piping to plum my house

cooler temps is good for turbos..so a deeper intercooler is what I am seeking. A slightly larger surface area oil cooler will help on those warmer track days.

an aftermarket oil cooler would be nice. i'm pretty sick and tired of trying to get BMW to install an oil cooler for me. I'd rather just get one installed myself so i can finally drive the car the way i want to! two thumbs up for me on an aftermarket oil cooler!

After seeing an Intercooler review on the WRX a while back, where they placed a larger intercooler than stock it resulted in lower performance because it didn't efficiently move the air.
I will wait to see some hard #'s on pressure drops,temps between the turbo outlet pressure to intake pressure at WOT.
Basically there is more to intercooler design than just making it larger.

It's starting to warm up here in Florida so I know that my car will start feeling slower soon due to the heat and humidity. A larger IC and hard piping will help out significantly and will not cause any additional turbo lag.

You are right, there is more to it than just size, but larger is better. Wrx has interheater since it is under the hood. A large FMIC is basic mod for them.
