Thumbs up FYI... for 335...software update from BMW will equal power...

My good friend....who is a Service Advisor for BMW...let me know that BMW is coming out with a software update that you will be able to buy from BMW for around $500 that will get you an extra 90 horses to the wheels. Just passing on the info to you 335 owners.... I have a 330 so it doesn't help me...but may be somthin you want to look into before going w/ Procede. If it helps any of you ... great..otherwise have a great weekend. Later.

no way! If it was true that would be phenominal. They wouldnt let 500.00 make it 30 less horsepower than an M3.imo anyways.

Maybe another Tech, SA, or someone within BMW could chime in to confirm.

While thats great in theory, I highly doubt that will be executed. BMW has a long standing relationship with Dinan and pretty much lets them handle most of the aftermarket while retaining warranties. If they did this, they would definitely step on their toes. Plus, theyd be stepping on their own toes by getting so close to the M3 in power.

BMW isn't that stupid to make this move, it will hurt the M3 sales. Even if they do, it will be like $5000, not 500. 500 is wayyyyy to cheap to get 90hp on any car.

wouldn't this pose a bit of conflict of interest? This would already put it close to e92 M3 numbers...

I guess that since procede does not leave any traces (cpu still looks like it was running within factory spec), it will cost them more money to repair any damage caused from aftermarket chip than if they charge $500 for a factory cpu re-flash and warranty the work.

I never considered aftermarket chip due to warranty issues, but if BMW offers a chip/re-flash OEM I would jump all over it.

I hope this is true but until I see something in writing I won't get my hopes up...

BMW is no longer going to be working with dinan the way they did in the past. They will be releasing their own aftermarket style equiptment. BUT i seriously doubt they will sell a ECU reflash that would give the car so much more power. It would kill M3 sales. From what I hear it will mostly be like exhaust/suspention etc etc.

I just text 'd my buddy for more info....I'll let you know. Umm if 335s are out selling M3s enough....I can see BMW offering such...since they ARE a company... and bottom line....profit is what matters. I know it wasn't $5K b/c he was talkin about how it may cut the legs out from under the Procede sales. That's originally why I mentioned this.

Must be a businessman.

Multiply that by the number of people to buy or who have bought Procedes and it is big $$.

Weather it is enough to offset the profit they make from M3s who knows...but I'm sure with the new M3s they will still have no probs selling them.

Now this could almost make sense... BMW knows a lot of folks without ethics are going to install tuners, blow something up and then come in playing innocent, arguing every step of the way and in full defensive mode. So why not by-pass that whole cattle car of fraud and simply do it in house. Make some money and do it right? Especially if they actually left 90HP on the table anyway and are just a re-flash and BOV adjustment away. Or even better if it's already wired and 15seconds and a wire cutter will do it.

Could ALMOST, ALMOST make a case for this...

But I'm standing by my... Just wishful thinking from BMW Fantasy camp. You're "Good Buddy" is probably trying to sell you a 335...

even if this is partially true - i don't think it will be $500! Because they know people will be willing to pay more than that for 90HP increase.
Just think about it - wouldn't you still buy this upgrade if it was $1000?? specially if its covered by warranty and done by BMW? I would!

Nothing will hurt the sales of M3's...nothing. Not even if 335i's had higher numbers. People buy M3's because they are M3's not because it has the most power.

Id pay 1500.00 in a heartbeat.no worries vs worried shitless that they might make some tool to pick up on these "untracable mods" and void the engine warranty.
