Doesn't sound like you followed the "RUN IN" advise
Run in?? You mean their suggestion of 1000 miles at no more than 3k revs etc etc? No, my version of running in is to obviously let the engine oil get to temp, then drive it properly. That way the piston rings and seals etc bed in correctly first time round and the engine will run as sweetly as can be. Brakes are bedded in properly too and the tyres are definitely well scrubbed now!

Cooper S with the auto box is a lovely drive. Wouldn't bother with the SD somehow as it's neither cheap to run (ie no road tax etc) nor is it as playful or quick as the Cooper S

Unbelievable spec you have there Tony, looks the dogs danglies, nice one .
No CCharge at the weekend, but with an average of 21 working days a month that's 210 every month, assuming I don't forget to pay the charge. If I forget, then it's a 60 fine each time...!

I went a bit overboard on the spec, but to be fair a lot of that list above is contained within the various option packs!

Tony you always write a smashing review. Thank you so much from all of us here at Sytner Chigwell for your custom, the fabulous feedback on the car and the service. You have been an absolute pleasure to do business with.
Good eyes hun Couldn't be doing with that huge antenna on the roof!

You and Georgina were brilliant, truly. Thanks so much to you both

Also nice to see that your 2nd car from Sytners was a bit of a different experience.

They are fun little cars with something that a lot of modern ones are missing, character! Have you got a cradle and tried Mission Control yet?
Yes, got the cradle and have used Mission Control. Am thinking it's going to lose its novelty value very quickly!

I only bring the gimp masks when I'm visiting you

Uh, well, the list price of the car is 24,170

I'm on a business lease with Sytner and let's just say that their deal is extremely competitive and when you add in the customer service and added-value that came from dealing with Anneka and Georgina, the fact their quote was better than Broadspeed and the like was just the icing on the cake.

Cooper SD is only 30 per year to tax so wouldn't just dismiss it on the basis it isn't cheap to run. However in your case it would attract congestion charge therefore that would change the picture.

Never tried a Cooper S in Automatic ...... seems a rather strange concept but possibly nice, just would worry about selling it on.

No indeed, it's not the road tax, but the congestion charge for me. Sorry, should have been more clear with my thought process.

On a side note, the Cooper D remaps nicely to around 140bhp and 230lbft torque... yet because of it's original declaration on the V5, is still exempt from CCharge and road tax....
Not that I would condone such bending of the rules...

Haha.. Of course you wouldn't

140bhp from a car of that stature isn't to be sniffed at.. It will be alot of fun like that.. And with free CC and tax: A very logical decision..

Looks fantastic Tony, and great write up as ever.I kept scrolling down your options list, then down some more, then some more....if i had been on my iPad it would have run out of memory

Still miss our 'Vert S, they have such soul for a modern car. Still maintain they are the best to fun ratio you can get.

Congratulations, and welcome to this little sub-group of E9x owners that have taken the Mini-pill for combatting the recession!

My Dooper is a joy to drive and whilst it is a year older (only 106g/km) it is still hugely economical to run. My mpg averages around 56mpg over about 9000 miles, and I don't drive it gently.
