2008 BMW 335I  [0.00]
While water boils at 100 degrees C at sea level (where the atmospheric pressure is 760mm Hg) the atmospheric pressure at 10,000 ft altitude is about 530 mm Hg. Because the boiling point of water is about 90 degrees C at this altitude.
Just thought some of you may find this interesting

Bit rusty on this but I recall that killing bacteria/germs is usually achieved around 70C - their enzymes (just like yours) get denatured/knackered around 60C. There are exceptions - super hard bacteria that love heat and pressure where even 100C is not enough - but as a general rule 70C will get em.

I think for household germs the recommended dishwashing and water temp (if you have a cylinder) to 70C, 55 absolute min for things like legionnaires disease in your hot water tank. Think this applies to meat temp too (70C internal temp) for white meat etc.

If you are talking about other harmful bacteria you would ingest in food and water then it would have to be boiled at 120C for a few minutes.
