Add menus to stereo Head Unit?

I was just wondering if anyone has tried or knows if it's possible to change the menus on the head unit through coding for an 06 e90 330i? The end goal is to be able to add a menu & buttons in the stereo setup to turn on/off/modify various settings in the programming. IE: add a button to enable/disable corner lights.

Thanks for the response! Do you know if one would have to replace the whole head unit? Does the HU interface with the main ECU of the car or is it independent?

you can find a thread in the forced induction section where someone added their own tune screen. so it would involve you programming your own logic board and connecting it to a video in on the headunit
