Admiral and winter tyres - confused!

So I emailed Admiral to ask about fitting winter tyres, just to make sure there wasn't a change fee to pay. In response, I received the following:

Quote:
Dear Mr Butler-Lee

Thank you for contacting us about your policy.

Unfortunately, we do not cover winter tyres. Sorry for any inconvenience.
I decided that didn't make any sense so called them instead, to be told that fitting winter tyres was absolutely fine, I didn't need to tell them when I switched and they'd happily email confirmation of this through to me.

Moral of story - sometimes phone is easier than email!

it annoys me that premiums dont come down for those taking the safe option and fitting winter tyres especially in the conditions we have had the last 2 winters!

Got the second email now:

Dear Mr Butler-Lee

Thank you for contacting us about your policy.

I am writing to confirm that your policy has been noted to advise you intend to fit winter tyres to your vehicle.
Most odd!

Phone is far better (so long as they send you the confirmation e-mail for your records!).

Doesn't inspire confidence imo.

Be careful, from experience Admiral can be a pain in the rear when it comes to telling you one thing and then doing another.

Bad advice imo

You have to tell them to ensure that you are covered in the event of a claim. PITA the rigmarole you have to go through to get the mods noted but ultimately worth it.
