I am not an expert in this area but I know that there are two methods of repairing the minor gutter damaged alloy:
1. Cheap and easy method : Using the putty as described above.
My worry is when removing the tyre from wheel, the tyre removing tool may scraped out the putty. Although it is very unlikely and it is just my theory.

2. Using aluminium and burn it into the damage area. This method is usually more expensive, done by professional and it was believed to be stronger.

You may need to use the second method for forged wheel.

Hi Ed, if you have some of the stuff left over, I would be happy to take up the offer. I scraped my wheel coming out of the car park a few weeks ago!

Daniel.

I repair 4 wheels, style 158 which I got from ebay. Although not perfect the result is near perfect. I have a lot of paints, sand papers and putty left and dont mind doing the lesson free with my left over material if anyone in Brisbane is interested.

Note: I dont know how to fix chrome colour/non bmw standard silver alloy colour.

No worries..You dont have to buy anything as I got them all..but you may need a spare wheel while your wheel being repaired as it wont be a two hours work.

My spare time is very limited as I got wife, kids and study...but I will help you out as much as possible. I can bring all the stuffs (only a litte box with paints and emery papers) over to your place so that you can get a head start on it.
How's that?
