SE & M-Sport brake differences?

I've got a 320d SE Touring ordered and I wondered if there was any difference between the SE and M-Sport brakes? One dealer told me there wasn't.

Also, the accessories brochure has "Sports Brake Discs" listed - anyone know what the difference is?

The only difference between SE and Sport models (other than cosmetic ) is that the Sport has stiffer suspension and is 15mm lower. Apart from that they are identical.

The only exception to this is where the M Sport type car is the 320si as this has bigger rear disk which are vented.

What about SE's with sports suspension? I expect the only difference is that the M-Sport suspension is stiffer. I think sports suspension on an SE also drops the car 15mm

My car was definitely quicker than yours. It was just slowed down by 'driver fear' and my lack of any natural driving ability.

I still have flashbacks to that 'tractor incident'.

I've order my SE with Sports suspension - I thought at the time that the M-Sport suspension was different.

When I got the confirmation, it lists the suspension as "M-Sport Suspension"

Weird, msport is different to sports suspension and it's not available as an 'option' on an SE.

I was talking to the dealer when I test drove the 335d and he said that sport and m-sport are one and the same? He reckons BMW changed the sport to M-sport to raise its profile to gain more sales.

I think he's wrong. If you look on realoem.com you will see that for the front axle:

1. Spring struts are different:

http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts...94&hg=31&fg=10

2. Shocks are different:

http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts...16&hg=31&fg=10

3. Stabiliser is the same but (I think) set up differently:

http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts...28&hg=31&fg=10

The springs are not listed on realoem, but I think they are different also.

According to my dealer there are only 2 kinds now, Normal & M-Sport. I don't think you can get the sport any more.

Ahhh ... I've just remembered that you have an e92 on order!

E46 coupes had 'sports' suspension as standard.

According to www.bmw.co.uk the e92 335i/335d's get 'msports' suspension as standard:

http://www.bmw.co.uk/bmwuk/pricesand...0spv-S,00.html

The other coupe models have 'msports' suspension as an option.

On the e90/91 the 'sports' suspension is an option. This is not the same as 'msports' suspension as the realoem.com parts list illustrates:

http://www.bmw.co.uk/bmwuk/pricesand...0spv-O,00.html

sorry but I think that you will find that technically, albeit commonly thought, this is a misguided belief.

although you may believe that black gives you that extra stealth and machismo, hence advantage in the psychology of the race, it is in fact quite gay.

so there

my dealer told me the lowered sports suspension on the E92 335d se is different from that on the m-sport.. i asked how different, and he said..

same drop in hight...
basically same feel to the drive..
and every other dealer will tell you it's the same.. BUT...

It's different.. basically the same thing, but it is actually different. he was willing to explain, but i told him to spare thr details, as i was ordering a Sport anyway and was late for a meeting too lol.. after reading your posts... i wish i'd continued to discuss it with him..

later

No ... you are wrong ... science backs me up here.

Objects have 'colour' because they absorb differing wavelengths of light and reflect back others. What we see is the reflected light.

Black cars reflect very little light and hence are best described scientifically as 'extremely cool'.

Lighter coloured cars reflect most wavelengths of light which makes them 'somewhat less cool'.

Finally scientists have proven that porsches are for girls.
