End of CPO - What to Consider?

Thought I would tap into the collective wisdom of the group on this one. . .

I have an '07 e90 335i with a CPO warranty that expires in October. I want to cover my ass and have my dealership do a check on a few things before my warranty expires. Raises two questions in my mind:

1. Does anyone have any experience with a manouver like this?
2. What should I have my dealer check for?

Interested in any advice. . . thanks

I have cpo warranty until next year May,
I recently notice few things... hopefully they get all covered under warranty they are....
1. comfort access, my fob in the pocket no longer start the car itself / door won't unlock
2. seatbelt
3. waste gate rattles & power loss <-- could be my imagination tho.

if you haven't changed water pump yet, you might want to look into it. wp is definitely covered by cpo.

They wont go looking for things to repair unless you point something out that needs fixing or you have a light on the dash.

You should consider paying for an inspection just before the warranty ends, that will force them to take a closer look and possibly spot something.

There is the new platinum and gold CPO wrap from BMW, started Aug1, it extends the dealer warranty to 7year/100k miles. I extended mine for another year for piece of mind, until I pay this off. My dealer gave me $100 off msrp.

I took my car for an inspection at an INDY shop which provided me with a repair list that is covered under CPO, I took that to a BMW dealer and got most of it done...

I don't know how warranty work goes in Canada. If they won't charge you to claim something is wrong and they find nothing, you can just tell them you smelled something like antifreeze to have them check the water pump. Claim decreased performance if you want them to check the injectors. I suppose you could use the same approach/concept to get them to look into anything else you think will die soon so long as it isn't considered a "wear item." (Read your CPO warranty to see what's considered a wear item.)

Also, depending on how close you are to actually needing some maintenance, you may be able to get that done too. Here in the US, if you are within 2000 miles of needing something, you can bring it to have the service done.

All the best and good luck.

I don't know if it's a US-only thing, but last I checked Canada was part of North America. Did they secede from the continent?

Uhh, of course they will charge you if you claim something is wrong, they check, but don't find anything immediate that is wrong. It's called diagnostic fee

You won't get charged the diagnostic if they do find something wrong. You could take your car in for something you know needs to be fixed, and include other items you would like checked. Dealers I've been to just roll all of that into the diagnostic charged for the items that did require a repair.

OK....I haven't had that happen at the BMW store I go to. I guess things do work differently for you.

I've asked them to look at quite a few things and never got charged for it. The last time I did that, I purchased tires and had them mount and install them and they checked my water pump. I paid for tire install. That was it. I know they didn't need to look at the water pump to change tires.

Mine expired Oct 2012. Do you suggest I take it to a place such as INDY same as you did or is it too late?
