OT - Can anyone recommend a Steak Houses?

Hey Guy's,

I'm coming to Dallas for a wedding at the end of the month and hoping someone could recommend a good steak house. No chains, Im looking for good steakhouse. I'm staying at the Dallas Marriott City Center, 650 North Pearl Street Dallas, Texas.

One recommendation was Y.O. Ranch Steakhouse, 702 Ross Avenue. Is this place any good?

Any recommendations would be appreciated.

Thanks,

jt - NYC

I've heard really good things about The French Room, while it is not specifically a steakhouse. It does have an excellent steak (as explained by some of my foodie friends).

YO is ok. I've been there and it was good, but not the greatest.

All very quintessential texas steakhouses. Skip Y.O. Not even in the running IMO.

If you want a decent steak(not as good as the above, but still good) with a very, very dallas atmosphere you could check out Al Biernat's. I wouldn't pick it for the steaks alone, but the scene is dallas in a can.

Not a steakhouse per se, but Stephan Pyles is right around the corner from you and they do a mean cowboy ribeye. The food on the rest of the menu is a great take on upscale southwest. I think it's overall one of the best restaurants the city has to offer, esp if you've not done much of the southwest thing before.

just my $.02

EDIT: saw you were in NYC. I'll be at WD-50 on friday for dinner, can't wait!

Al Biernat's for sure, and ~ 10 mins from your hotel.

try http://www.ruthschris.com/ find a place near your location. I usually eat medium rare, but when I go here I ask for rare, due to their dish is really HOT. All i have to do is cut my steak and push the cut piece against the plate and it will cook that rare steak for me, which is very nice.

You're out of your cotton pickin' mind... :P

There are so many outstanding steak houses in DFW that is makes no sense to try one that is just "decent".

Three Forks
Bobs Steak and Chop House
Del Friscos

All three of these are on the Dallas parkway and a reasonable drive from the hotel you've listed. Del Frisco's is the closest and Bob's the furthest but you're only talking about a 5 minute difference in drive time..

Of these, Three Forks is my favorite but I love both Bob's and Del Frisco's too.

Mostly Vacation. Gonna go into the city for a couple of days and then drive down LI to Montauk. I'm excited, haven't been there in a while. if you have any recs for places I'd appreciate it as well (nothing fancy, only doing one nice dinner while we're there).
