Hk style "fast meal":
Richmond court aka nam yeun
Kennys noodle aka luen gei

Is usually tip between 10-15% of total bill.

Have fun!

I rather go to New City than Kenny's ...

Lots have changed since 10 years ago, what sort of HK style food are you looking at?

Personally, I think Phoenix is only good for 2 things. Milk tea, and the Hainan Chicken Rice; everything is pretty mediocre at best.

I second the Casa Victoria recommendation.. also could try Dragonboat and Regal 16.

Also agree with the Ding Tai Fung recommendation.. Please keep in mind these are uptown.

For Wonton ..Wonton Chai isn't bad...but I've yet to have a place that made me go wow. Oddly, I was more impressed with their sliced beef noodle than wonton.

Tip is usually 10-15% for Chinese restaurants.

Everything mentioned is within 5-10 minutes driving/walking from your hotel. There's a wonton place diagonally across from you. It's not the best, but one of the better, especially when you're feeling lazy. Casa Victoria is also in the same plaza; 5 minutes walk from your hotel.

I actually really like Ten Ren in Richmond Hill (it's not too far from Markham, it's right by Hwy 7). Peaktop is really good too.

i used to live near hilton. the closest plaza there will be FMP (first markham place), which is to the west along hwy7.
http://maps.google.ca/maps?hl=en&tab=wl

i personally go to these three restaurants
Congee Wong : for canto food like fried noodles and congee
Kenny's Delight : for hk style food
Ding Tai Fung Shanghai Dim Sum : for dumplings

if you drive east along hwy7, you will see mong kok plaza, at your left on kennedy.

http://maps.google.ca/maps?hl=en&sug...-8&sa=N&tab=wl

recommend:
new city : hk style food, but main reason why i recommend it cuz it's cheap : )
keung gei : general chinese food

if u see a black sapphire metallic E90 lci, with cf roof spoiler and cf trunk spoiler, gross black kidney grilles, cf vinyl wrapped reflectors, that could be me! lol hahahaha
hope you enjoy your trip here in markham.

Just make sure you are prepared for the traffic jams on Hwy 7 in rush hours, if you are driving...

I just moved to the 905... it ended up that the place is off Hwy 7... not liking that Hwy 7 traffic.

This is hilarious.

Casa Victoria is good, but I rather go south to Crown Prince just for the 1000 layer cake and the Dim Sum on par with Casa or better imo. Same owner/family.

Not a fan of Phoenix. Food is only decent and last two times I was there, I had a hair in the food once and a metal piece the other time.

When was the last time you were there? They renovated and changed their name at least 1 year ago.
