+1 on the passport 9500ix. Extremely simple to use. I bought it purposely for when i picked up my car in Reno on Sept 3. And driving back it alerted me to all kinds of speed traps. Hidden cops with no lights on and in this particular case over a mile away. It probably saved me three tickets worth on that 600 mile drive minimum. In all, I love it and its very easy to read and hear when it goes off.

V1 end of discussion. Get the concealed display and hardwire it and call it a day.

Remote mount detectors are designed for this purpose. The horn is kept in the bumper and a remote screen is placed in the cabin. This option does require some sort of way to get the wiring from the engine to the driver seat though. If you hardwire it up high, the detector is still difficult to see from outside the vehicle and you don't have to deal with the issues of a remote mount.

Also people, please mount your RD's as high as possible!

I used many different ones, but driving within the speed limit usually worked best.

I do believe jammers are illegal in the U.S. I read that somewhere when researching a radar detector myself, I went with a V1

9500 or V1

I like the arrows of my V1 but the GPS on the 9500 is legit to avoid false signals that you drive by on a daily basis.

If they could combine the 2 into 1 it would be the ideal solution.

Combined with a laser jammer

you can do an Escort Passport QI45 tiny little screen and sensors get mounted in the front and rear.

I have a V1, and am really happy with it, you do get a lot of X and K false alarms, but I love the arrows, and they've saved me a few times.

Thats the one thing I wish the V1 had, I drive by the same 2 Ks almost everyday, now I know what they are but if I could ignore them that'd be great, at least I know if its more than 2 theres a cop.

Radar Jammers are illegal by federal law, Laser Jammers depend on the state.

I love my redline because it has TSR (traffic sensor rejection). If your area uses it your radar detector will give a instant on like response on k band for every 10 secs or so but TSR filters theses false out.

I have a 9500ix, it has never failed me. My friend has a V1, and it makes so much noise. Both are extremely reliable. I commute through downtown Atlanta daily, so the 9500ix makes sense for me because you can block out false signals with GPS. There is no guarantee that a radar can save you from a ticket, but it just gives that tiny bit of reassurance if you somehow always miss the speed limit sign!

I'm talking about concealing the entire system period. Not having anything on the windshield, and have like a screen display on your mirrors or something

This. My goal is to get one of these someday when I get to a state that won't throw me in jail for going over 80

With the QI45 nothing goes on your windshield, its not hidden in the mirror either but you can put it where ever you want. most people put it in the ashtray. and the sensors are hidden in the grille

Bought a V1 many years ago. Haven't had a ticket since. What can I say, except that it works for me. Yes it's noisy, but a push on the vol. knob shuts it up pretty well.
